In a more action filled fight that many expected, first time lightweight Juan Manuel Marquez (49-4-1, 36 KOs) stopped Joel Casamayor (36-4-1, 22 KOs) in the eleventh round with a right hand to the chin to win the linear 135 lbs Ring Magazine title. After a slow start by both warriors, Marquez began to dictate the pace of the bout and succeeded in landing the right hand to the face of the proud Cuban fighter through out the tactical encounter. Mid way thru the eleventh, Marquez landed a stiff right hand that sent Casamayor crashing to the canvas. Casamayor beat the count but Marquez attacked ferociously and landed another right cross to the chin that sent “Cepillo” on his back side once again prompting referee Tony Weeks to halt the fight. Official time was 2:55.
In the semi main event, Segio Mora (21-1-1, 5KO) lost a lopsided decision and his WBC super welterweight belt in his rematch with Vernon Forrest (41-3, 29KO). Forrest was just simply the aggressor against a stale Mora whose knee touched the canvas at the end of the seventh which was scored a knockdown. Scores were 118-109, 117-110 and 119-108.
140 pounder Victor Ortiz (22-1-1, 17KO) sent Argentinean Roberto Arrieta (30-14-4, 13KO) three times to earn a TKO victory at the 2:25 mark of the fifth round. With the win, Ortiz of Oxnard, CA, takes home the NABO light welterweight title.
San Diego, CA’s Danny Perez (33-5, 17KO) made a statement by defeating El Paso, TX’s Julio Cesar Garcia (41-3, 34KO) with a unanimous decision in a ten round super middleweight bout. Perez completely dominated the experienced twenty one year old with scores of 100-90, 99-91 and 97-93.

It was a very good fight, better than I expected to be, Pacquio knows he has been in deep water when he has fought Marquez, I do think Marquez won the 2nd one. Pacquio is very good but he lacks defense, that’s where Marquez needs to capitalize if they make a 3rd one.
Let’s see what happens with Pacquio and De la Hoya first, Marquez is not getting any younger, if he doesn’t get him mid next year we will be, maybe to old.
First of all, to the last comment… Quit hating.. Everyone knows you’re not pacquiao because if he can barely even speak english, I highly doubt he can spell correctly in english.. Second of all, Marquez won the last fight against Pacquiao. Everyone knows that.. Besides, Marquez has called him out and when Pacquiao is asked about it, he just avoids the question and all he can say is “um…. um…. um….”
Anyway… Well, although I was a bit dissappointed about Mora’s loss, I was very much pleased with the outcome of the Marquez match. It was an exciting fight. Specially because its the first time ever that someone KO’s Casamayor… Glad it was by Marquez.
Nice win, but still not impresses me, i can do much better than that, Marquez will be in coma, if we fight again, lousy marquez sucks.

personally i enjoyed the fight. it had its good moments. the difference was Marquez great combinations towards the last rounds. Casamayor felt the damage from Marquez constant bodyshots wich was another factor to marquez victory.
