Kermit Cintron is Back

Since his second loss to Antonio Margarito, One of the most feared fighters in the world even Floyd Mayweather turned down an offer to fight Margarito for $8 million in 2006, former welterweight titleholder Kermit Cintron has been laying low since April.

With the loss to Margarito, Cintron lost out on the opportunity to take on WBA titleholder Miguel Cotto. It would have been not only a career high payday but also a chance to prove his mettle against arguably the division’s best fighter. Such a loss would be devastating for many fighters. Rather than dwell on the negative ramifications of the loss, Cintron takes a more philosophical and positive approach. The former champion Kermit Cintron (29-2, 27 KOs), under new promoter DiBella Entertainment and new trainer Ronnie Shields, will face Australian Lovemore N’dou (46-10-1, 30 KOs) Nov. 15 at Vanderbilt University’s Memorial Gymnasium in Nashville, Tenn., on the Jermain Taylor-Jeff Lacy card. Philadelphia’s Chazz Witherspoon (23-1, 15 KOs) is also part of the lineup.

And as for those who feel Cintron’s days as a top contender are over think again I think Cintron will come out stronger, Cintron has come a long way in a short time in the sport to loose hope.

  1. Cintron is a beast and Margarito is a cheater. Yes, the Martinez fight was questionalbe although I was there…and Cintron did beat the count. I had Cintron losing by two rounds…and feel a draw waw a bit of a gift. With that said, we all saw how good Martinez is. He clearly beat Williams and showed that he is a most difficult opponent for anyone. Although I had Cintron losing by 2 rounds, it was a very competitive fight showing me that Kermit Cintron is for real. I’d love to see Cintron against either Williams or Mayweather. He (Cintron) is most deserving of a big fight/payday and either Williams or Mayweather will do. I’m predicting a banner year in 2010 for Kermit Cintron. Agree or not, you heard it here first!

  2. I think is backwards, Cintron is the perfect opponent for Cotto.
I agree with Edgar, he’ll get the best of Cotto and wont be able to handle it.

  3. Do you guys really think, Cotto will be the perfect opponent for Cintron , I personally think Miguel Cotto is going to come out hungrier than ever and Cintron cant handle the pressure.

  4. Cintron is Back?? I didn’t know he went anywhere. His only 2 professional losses are to Margarito and we all found out just how good he is against Cotto. Cintron is a great fighter who just didn’t match up well with Margarito….not many do! He’s a young fighter (experience wise and # of rounds fought) and getting better with every 3 minutes that passes! Cintron’s best days are clearly still ahead of him. He has a great attitude and good, supportive people around him. What everyone wants to see is “just how good is he?”….fair enough. Time will answer that one. I believe he’s as good or better than any of the other welterweights out there…but that is talk and we all know that is cheap. Cintron will have to prove his worth. I can’t imagine there are many who would “choose” to face him. 29 wins with 27 KO’s. Would you want to be the guy to square up against him? Can’t wait for November 15th and beyond. I predict some world titles coming his way and a future that will be filled with success!
