Shane Mosley waits in the corner as the referee gives a ten count to Ricardo Mayorga of Nicaragua in the 12th round during their junior middleweight bout at the Home Depot Center on September 27, 2008 in Carson, California

Shane Mosley (45-5, 38 KOs) scored an entertaining twelfth round KO over Ricardo Mayorga (28-7-1, 22 KOs) on Saturday night at the Home Depot Center in Carson, California. Mayorga was more effective early, but Shane began to figure him out in round three. Round six was a big round for Mosley as Mayorga invited him to take a number of shots and Mosley obliged. The second half of the fight was more of an ugly brawl, but in the twelfth, Mosley exploded, flooring Mayorga twice to impressively end it. Time was 2:59.

WBC welterweight champion Andre Berto (23-0, 19 KOs) outworked former world titlist and Contender: Season Two star Steve Forbes (33-7, 9 KOs) over twelve rounds to take a clear cut 118-109, 118-109, 116-111 unanimous verdict.

  1. Well I said Mosley was gonna KO Mayorga in the 7th or 8th, but it actually came in a more fashion way, with just 1 second to go, what a great way to end a fight and give us the fans what we want.

Mayorga’s has is a very unorthodox fighting style and it can be hard to deal with at the beginning specially when he was 10 pounds heavier and that is one of the reason he did not went down in the early rounds by those big blows of Mosley.

At the end Mosley did what he was supposed to do. Now I will like to see what he does next, Margarito is going to be to much if he even has the chance of fight him next year.

Margarito seems like he really wants to fight Cotto again and move to better things.
All in all it was an entertaining fight with a few slow rounds but it payed out at the end, it’s always fun to see Mayorga do was he does, even if that means he will go down, like he has with the 3 best fighters he has fought recently.
