Margarito-Mosley at Staples Center
December 4, 2008 by Edgar Gonzalez
The Antonio Margarito vs “Sugar” Shane Mosley WBA welterweight championship clash set for January 24th at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas has been shifted to Staples Center in Los Angeles. Promoter Bob Arum told the LA Times that the bout is “an L.A. fight,” and revealed that MGM/Mirage planned to buy only about 40% of the expected tickets. Nevada State Athletic Commission Executive Officer Keith Kizer told The Times that he didn’t think the fight was moved for Mosley to avoid additional scrutiny or possible discipline in Nevada after the release of grand jury testimony in which Mosley admitted taking performance enhancing injections.
