According to a recent post by pasiondeportiva.info, the legendary Julio Cesar Chaves Sr.chavez stated that his sons Omar and Julio Cesar Jr. will not continune their careers with Tijuana promoter Fernando Beltran of Zanfer Promotions. Chavez Sr. went as far as to cancel the March 28th fight of Chavez Jr. in Tijuana, MX.

“Beltran is a fraud and my sons will no longer fight in his fight cards,” JC commented as he took part of the weekly meeting between the media and the WBC orchastrated by Mr. Jose Sulaiman.

Zanfer promotions, thru their Director of Public Relations Guillermo Brito declared that the March 28th fight card continues as programmed and that JC Chavez Sr.’s comments will not alter the plans.

“The fight is going to happen, in fact Julio Jr. has intensified his training for the mega fight that we are staging in Tijuana,” Brito declared. “We are ready for the fight card on March 28th, as far as for Chavez Sr., we hope that his comments are spur of the moment and I hope that in the coming days the relantionship is back to normal.”

Not only did Chavez Sr. announce that his sons will not fight in Zanfer Promotions fight cards but also spoke badly about how the Mexican promoter conducts business.

“He has the fighters standing in line at his office for weeks at a time and he has never shown me any respect. Young fighters that are starting out fighting four rounds, he only pays him 1000 pesos (US$70),” he accused.

Chavez Sr. was obviously upset with Beltran and accused him of living of the fighters.

“It is not just how he treats me and there is a lot of promoters so that is why my sons will not continue their careers with him.

He mentioned that on the trips that he made as a color analyst on TV Azteca on Beltran shows, he had to pay for his room and board, “nobody will be there for me at the airport, I had to look for my own taxis and Fernando never said anything.”

Obviously, Zanfer Promotions are not happy with the recent declarations but they are confident the the March 28th fight card will go as planned.

“The sons of Julio Cesar are happy with the way that we have handled their careers, this is just a passing thing and I am sure we will go back to being ok,” Brito affirmed.

None the less, Julio Cesar Chavez Sr. did state that he didn’t care that Fernando Beltran had his son Jr. under contract.

“My sons will no longer be in his promotions,” he assured.

Chavez Sr. did emphasize that he did not have any issues with Top Rank or with its CEO Bob Arum, the U.S. promoter of his sons, he clairified that the problem was with Beltran and not Arum.
