Cutman has relapse since suffering a stroke in 2007

chuckbodakChuck Bodak continues to fight the physical battle of health since first suffering a stroke in August 2007. One of boxing’s premier cutmen, Chuck needs everyone’s support, prayers and well wishes during this latest relapse he is now undergoing.
We visited Chuck yesterday and are keeping hopeful that he will once again bounce back. After all, Chuck Bodak is known for his scrappiness!

Dedicating many decades to a sport he truly loves, true to form his walls are adorned with boxing posters, gloves, photos and other mementos from the ring. He’s a champion to many and it’s with a heavy heart that I wanted to let you all know of his current condition.
Unfortunately the effects of his age of 92 (he’ll be 93 in June) are taking its toll on the once-boisterous, colorful cutman. His voice has now been silenced by the debilitating stroke. At times he does seem to recognize people and tries to communicate by nodding or with his eyes. He’s in a wonderful private care hospice in a southern part of Orange County, California and every effort is made to make sure he’s absolutely comfortable in, sadly, his 12th Round of life.
bodakringIt’s been a tough fight for everyone’s favorite cutman and the boxing community has shown their appreciation for all he’s contributed through the years. In October, the always first-class WBC Legends of Boxing Museum honored Chuck with a Lifetime Achievement Award and in November, Bodak received an Award of Appreciation from the World Boxing Hall of Fame at their annual banquet.
Please keep him in your thoughts during this extremely challenging time for the feisty boxing veteran, his family and friends.

  1. I workout with a guy who used to be trained by Chuck. His name is Oscar and he has nothing but good things to say about Chuck. I hope he has a speedy recovery and my thoughts are with you.
