So this is part 3 of 4 of the Godfather, if you miss part one click here .

3. Get Suspicious of People’s Generosity

At one point in the movie a Sicilian named Virgil Sollozzo wants to meet with Don Corleone to make him a partnership offer in the drug business. During the meeting, Sollozzo explains that Don Corleone will only need to invest 1 million dollars and share his political influence, and that in return he should get back 3 to 4 million dollars in the first year alone.

Upon hearing this offer, Don Corleone says:

“So why do you come to me? Why do I deserve this generosity?”

Obviously there was something shady going on. The offer was too good to be true, and Don Corleone knew better, so he just refused it.

Similar situations happen quite often in boxing. Many boxers who are starting off they are given easy opponents who don’t even know how to box. Take the 2008 U.S. Olympian Shawn Estrada. Nothing against him personally, I am just using him as an example. I have personally seen both Estrada’s fights since his pro debut. I have seen his name everywhere, every boxing website you read, his name is there, which is good marketing by his promoter “Goossen Turor”, but the last two opponents were an embarrassment to the sport. Estrada enter the ring with 5-6 team members with him (at first I thought it was the main event with that type of entrance) while his opponent (Shaun Spaid) had no one but his trainer. Get this, his trainer was cheering for Estrada the whole time, I honestly couldn’t stop laughing. Bottom line, Estrada won 0:43 seconds of round one. My point is why be so generous to someone who is just starting out? I am not saying throw him to the wolves, but if he was worthy during his amateur career, wouldn’t you place him with worthy opponents? I mean isn’t that why you hired him? Instead of making him look good you’re making him look bad. I can guarantee I am not watching his next fight. What for? it’s going to be a shitty fight anyways.  Whenever you find yourself with an offer that seems too good to be true, ask that person: “Why do I deserve this generosity?”

Stay tuned for Part 4.

I’m Shaun Spaid.. I have worked very hard in boxing, but constantly get the shaft, and lead in to bs fights by greedy Promoters. I was only given the Estrada fight because Goosen-Tutor Promotions Found out I stopped boxing 9months before the fight, then they rushed to sign me to an easy win for their guy.. Id love to ko his weak girly punch A**hole in a match up when I have been training.. Because Im sure you of all people can see that Estrada is being hand fed and when tested is going to S**T on him self. I was man enough to get in there and willing to accept a whoopin on national tv because I pulled for the kid in the games, instead I was made to look a fool and blasted by every fat bas#$%& who thinks they know something about Boxing..
Cheap shots come easy from the side line, and I dont see any of those guys in the shape to get in the ring.. I walk around in good enought shape to get in there any time.. If someone was willing to help me train correct It wouldnt be a problem for me to smash top contenders, theres no question of heart here BUDDY!
And the guy in my corner was there guy, I went to Cali. for SC all alone, no fear bubba.. Repo Ric is there guy i met him when I got off the plain, and he never shut up.. cool guy, just talks to much, and wouldnt shut up in the ring..
total bad deal for me, tring to do a good thing.. live and learn, but estrada will get a beat down soon as he fights a real opponet.. promiss, he hits like a girl, and those punches were to the back of my head, didnt have a scrach after the fight, just a messed up pony tail from getting punched in it.. but not a bad pay day for 43 seconds.. just have to fight all the jacka23′s here that think they can take me now..

    later dude..
