wbc-beltIt has just been announced that the bout between undefeated Venezuelan Edwin Valero (24-0, 24KO) and Antonio Pitalua (46-3-1, 40KO) of Colombia has seized to be the interim title and is now a world title fight for the WBC 135 lbs. strap.  Mr. Sulaiman, who as president of the sanctioning body announced the news after receiving the formal letter in which Manny Pacquiao renounced the title since he is slated to face Ricky Hatton at the junior welterweight limit.

“I am very happy that the fight that will go down on April 4th in Austin, TX, against Pitalua now is for the world championship and like I said before, I am working hard so that my hand is raised and I will not let my fans down,”  Valero stated.  “I promise to Mr. Sulaiman, my promoter Bob Arum, my team and my adored Venezuela that i will win the WBC title and I will defend it and respect it with courage and responsibility.  Nobody will take the green belt away from me.”
