Promoter Nacho Huizar announced yesterday that new WBA bantamweight champion the Venezuelan Nehomar Cermeño will rematch former champion Cristian Mijares in June of this year in Mexico City.
Huizar, who spoke with Cermeño’s team, stated that the fight is a done deal. Only small details are needed to be discussed.
In the announcement, Mijares and Huizar said that they are convinced that they got the raw end of the stick in their split decision loss this past Saturday night at the Centenario Stadium in Torreon, MX.
It seemed that Mijares was winning by points but Cermeño was able to close out the show in the ending rounds. Cemeño stays undefeated with a record of 17-0, 10KO while Mijares drops his second in a row with a record of 38-5-2, 19KO.
