According to Steve Kim of MaxBoxing, Jorge Barrios of Argentina has been scratched from the “Lightweight Lighting” fight card slated for April 4th on HBO PPV.
No reason was given. Now, Golden Boy’s Vicente Escobedo is rumored to be the one to face former champion Carlos “Famoso” Hernandez.
Also on March 28, Top Rank is promoting Latin Fury 8, featuring four of Mexico’s biggest names in boxing live on pay-per-view from the 21,000-seat Plaza de Toros Monumental bullring in Tijuana, Mexico. Hall of Fame promoter Bob Arum; chairman of Top Rank, Fernando Beltran, Mexico’s top promoter; The Honorable Jorge Ramos, Mayor of Tijuana; and Oscar Escobedo, Baja California Secretary of Tourism, hosted a no-holds-barred media conference call today to address U.S. media reports and stories on the crime and safety in Tijuana. The highlight of the telephone conference was to ensure everyone’s safety and not worry about any of the crime happening in TJ.
You can listen to the conference call here.
