Margarito and Morales confirms Summer Fight

At a recent gathering organized by the WBC to honor Mexican multi millionairemargarito1 Carlos Slim as its “Man of the Year”, former two three time welterweight champion Antonio Margarito of Tijuana, MX, reiterated the fact that he will fight again in the summer despite his suspension by the California State Athletic Commission.

“Bob Arum will let us know where the fight will take place,” Margarito stated.

As far as is suspension due to illegal hand wraps in his loss to Shane Mosley last January, Margarito commented: “my lawyer is taking care of that.”

As for now, Margarito stated that he is not thinking of ther other welterweight champions.
“Miguel Cotto can say what he wants, I am not worried.”

Also in attendance at the luncheon which was held in Mexico City was Erik “Terrible” Morales confirming accounts that he will step in to the squared circle once again and that he would eventually want a rematch against the ex WBC lightweight champion David Diaz and that his first fight back will be in his hometown of Tijuana.

  1. I’ve heard from a friend who saw Eric Morales @ a starbucks in TJ a couple of days ago that he is still to fat, so I’m not sure what’s going on with him, I thought we was going to start training a few months back to lose weight and get ready for a comeback.

    Margarito seems to be running and training every day from what I read on a local news paper, a lot of people have turn their back on him, but the guy seems to want to get back in the ring and his keeping in shape, I think by now he’s gonna wait for January since we are only 3 months away and try to get his license back.
    I will like to see a rematch of Margarito vs Cotto, especially if Cotto wins against Pacquiao, although people will be pushing for Cotto Mayweather, maybe Mayweather will chicken out on that one if that actually happens, if Cotto loses against Pacquiao I can see a Margarito Cotto rematch next summer, that could give Cotto a much needed win and a re vindication against or put Margarito back in the welterweight picture.

    In case this fight happens they should check each and every inch in both fighters gloves and persona to make sure that who ever wins wins cleanly and there is no more talk about enhancements here and there.

    I want to see a rematch and a lot of people want to see Margarito get destroyed by Cotto, so this could be still and attractive fight even after all the mess that has happen with Margarito.
