If there was ever any question about who is the best lightweight fighter in the world, Juan Manuel Marquez put an exclamation mark on his claim to that title Saturday night with a ninth-round knockout of Houston hometown favorite Juan “Baby Bull” Diaz.
A near-sellout crowd of 15,000-plus fans at the Toyota Center in Houston saw Marquez use his experience and ability to overcome Diaz’s youth and effective aggression.
If you missed the fight, don’t worry HBO will air it again tonight (03/03/09) at 8:30 PM PT.
Also rumor has it that Juan Manuel Marquez’s televised “calling out” of the retired Floyd Mayweather Jr. was enough for Pretty Boy Floyd to come back for a September showdown against Marquez.
Mayweather’s adviser Al Haymon stated “Floyd has itchy feet. Floyd wants to get back in the ring before this year is over.”
If this happens and assuming Marquez could pull it off and beat the Pound 4 Pound king Manny Pacquioa will be the one asking for a third rematch.
Are you crazy! Pac would get messed up by Floyd. He isn’t the fighter you think he is. Watch Hatton punish him.
This would be a good match up but I would rather see Floyd get knocked out by Pac Man
