Reports out of Mexico City, where five-time world champion Juan Manuel Marquez is back in training for his scheduled September 19 PPV clash against Floyd Mayweather (Mayweather vs. Marquez “Number One/Numero Uno”), confirm that Marquez is bigger, stronger and punching “to the body” harder than ever as he pushes his training regime to new heights in preparation for his ultimate challenge against Mayweather. Eyewitnesses say it’s evident that not only is Marquez bigger, but his training includes a special focus on body work and technique as he looks to defeat the undefeated Mayweather, a six-time world champion in five weight divisions. “I know where he’s been hurt and I’m going for it,” said Marquez. “He is vulnerable now and I will take advantage of his weakness with a body attack that emphasizes two things-the right and the left.”

Another testament to this new resolve is his grueling two-hour runs in the mountains of Nevado de Toluca at a staggering elevation of 13,500 feet. “The mountain is a magic place and gives me the freedom to visualize the night of the fight and how I am going to beat him,” said Marquez. “It is also building my endurance, making my legs stronger and building muscle across my whole body.”

Marquez has also been adding weight as he works through technique in training. Marquez finished, “I’ve been working gradually with the extra weight, which is going to be pure muscle and make me stronger than ever by the time I step in the ring September 19. Mayweather is going to be the first one to feel the difference.”

  1. jmm looking stronger. floyds in trouble i pick jmm it wont pass 9 rounds. no running for floyd jmm will attack the body and he is done. im boricua but lets go mexico

  2. I can agree with you on that one Tijuana……

As for styles of fighting we might have different preferring, in some fighters that we like. MMA and UFC just don’t do it for me…The only way I’ll watch it if some of my friends drag me out too a sports bar too watch it.

You mentioned one of the Silva’s there are lots of Silva’s in Brazil, Theirs one of them that got my attention, I keep forgetting his first name anyhow he’s the one that challenge Roy Jones Jr to a fight. He’s not bad, he has a nice style.

As for Boxing, the only thing that I see that’s in trouble is the heavy weight division, what a mess they are in. You have these Klitscho monsters they have no style very basic, and nobody can’t beat them. I’ll give them credit at least they look like athletes. Heavy weight are the big concerns
for now but it will bounce right back in time.

The Middle weight and super middle weight and lower are the happening
source right now, very exciting too watch. At least we don’t see much of Don king making a mockery of the sport. But I still have too give him credit he’s still one of the biggest promoters out there and still as powerful rather if you like him or not.

People say its not the same as it use too be, maybe too a certain extent but that still doesn’t mean that the sport is dead. Heard from a very old source that this had happen before a long long long time ago.
Theirs a recycle of generation of boxers that are still in the game or on the way out. and the talent is developing too enter the game.

It will come back even more stronger and repair its self that’s a must
It will rebuild and repair itself. We all demand it too.

I can also say this the Mexican’s are the back bone of the sport of boxing for generation and generations they always showed good heart and as well exceptional chins…will always be the savior to give us a good entertainment too watch….And that’s the truth.

  3. I don’t like the UFC as a company but I enjoy the fights, boxing for me is more of an art, it has been around for centuries and it will not go away or be replaced by MMA. I like many sports, basketball, football, football (soccer), they are different sports they all have boring and entertaining matches, just like MMA and boxing.

Big time champions in MMA are very skillful athletes and if you like sports you have to respect their dedication, commitment and growling training, but it is different than boxing, I thnk both sports are here to stay.

To me this who Boxing Vs MMA is actually good, competition is always a good thing, I like what Showtime is doing with the boxing tournament, they call it saving the sport of boxing, I don’t think boxing needs to be save, but it does need to evolve and give back what people pay to watch fights and attend to the events.

There are always boring fights in boxing and in MMA, I only wish all boxing fights were in the internment caliber as the Gatti Vs. Ward trilogy, but that is to much wishful thinking.
The funny thing here is that like I know Brown is a fan of Floyd Mayweather, his style could be compared to MMA fighters who are experts in grown skills, to me both are boring in a way, I know there is a lot of technical skills in both techniques and I appreciate that but I love stand up boxing fights in MMA and I love good boxing exchanges that include counter punching, defense and an active attack.

So to me boxing will get stronger if they make the right moves and a few chances here and there, everything needs to evolve, we need to have better cards, not just a main event and a bunch of boring under cards for a PPV price of 40 to 50 dlls, (GBP is known for this) we need more good match ups like Showtime is doing, boxing will never end and both sports can coexist, they are both entertaining at their peek and also totally different, but if you ask me, boxing is my #1 sport.

Now Dana white is a hole different story, with all the money UFC is making the fighters who are the soul of the organization should get paid much better, then again boxing has lots of rats like Mr. King just to mention someone, and well Brown, Mayweather has a huge mouth also and he’s full of BS, but like you said he gets credit for his accomplishments, even if he could have pick better opposition.

But yeah, in conclusion UFC fights when they are in the ground; like you guys I share the same view, boring as hell, but when they are swinging for the fences like Wanderlei Silva does is great entertainment, who doesn’t like knockdowns?

Fedor Emelianenko is the best MMA has and will have to offer for a long time, If someone thinks this guy is boring to watch damn go get and eye checkup, funny how he is not falling into Dana White’s jaws “yet”.

  4. Hey edgar…..As for sponsorship we can try and work something out, even though its a tough economy your going too have too be patient…
    We will keep in-touch

As for UFC I can respect the Athletes, but I can’t stand the sport neither…..
Like you said too much holding and rubbing, find it very boring as well.
Lets just say its unpredictable you never know what type of action your getting.
And As for the that Dana white I find him really repulsive.
    A real big mouth……LOL
I could understand if someone is trying to promote their sport fine,
but have some respect for boxing its been around for hundreds of years
and UFC will never take over period, i really don’t think they seem to get it…LOL

  5. The Canon HV30 is a great deal, full HD 1080i and it records to MiniDVs, Tapes still have better quality than HDD or memory sticks and it can be edited with most video software, I’m loving mine, I just wish I had fights and events to record lol.

  6. Hey Edgar my friend….I see your right on top of things…..Lets have some more videos.

Do you watch UFC and MMA?

  7. Go Marquez! so far is looking good for him, he has to come in at 200% and I have no doubt he will, I can’t wait and see what happens, I hope he gets to shock the world and shut up nonsense talking Mayweather.
Thanks for the good post Edgar.
