Jorge “Travieso” Arce (52-3-1, 40 KOs) has returned to training with great passion as he prepares for a grudge match against unbeaten South African Simphiwe Nongqayi (15-0, 6 KOs) on September 15 at a site to be determined. The bout will be for the IBF super flyweight championship vacated by Vic Darchinyan. Nonqagy defeated Jorge’s younger brother Francisco “Panchito” Arce on February 28 in Los Mochis, Sinaloa, by decision in a world title eliminator and “Travieso” has promised to regain the family honor. “Simphiwe snatched away the dream of my brother Panchito to fight for a world title, now I have to compensate for the pain we feel. I will take away the dream of Simphiwe being crowned world champion,” expressed Arce very strongly.
Arce, who recently turned 30-years-old, has been training with the renowned Don “Nacho” Beristain at the Romanza Gym in Mexico City. “In the morning I run in the woods of Tlalpan, then I train with Don Nacho,” said Jorge. “Don Nacho is certainly a great coach. We have made a great team.”
Arce is also known for starring in the reality show “Desafio de Estrellas” on TV Azteca. “That is over and we’ve turned the page and now we are 100% focused on the prize: boxing and we have a lot of enthusiasm and commitment in the gym,” said the pride of Los Mochis, Sinaloa.
The event is presented by Zanfer Promotions and will be broadcast by TV Azteca.
