AS PACQUIAO REFUSES TO COMPLY WITH
UNITED STATES ANTI DOPING DRUG TESTING PROCEDURES
The mega-fight between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao is now in jeopardy after Golden Boy Promotions, on behalf of Mayweather Promotions, learned today that Manny Pacquiao is refusing to comply with Olympic style drug testing as outlined and mandated by the United States Anti Doping Agency (USADA) and as requested by Mayweather’s management to ensure fair play and sportsmanship by both fighters.
Early today Richard Schaefer, CEO of Golden Boy Promotions, was contacted by Top Rank President Todd duBoef, who informed Schaefer that Pacquiao would not agree to have his blood taken within 30-days of the bout based on the fighter’s superstition of testing so close to a fight.
Schaefer commented, “Todd told me that Pacquiao has difficulty with taking blood and doesn’t want to do it so close to the fight. He, Pacquiao, would only agree to have blood drawn before the kick-off press conference and after the fight.”
Olympic style drug testing involves random sampling of the athlete’s blood and urine prior to and after the fight. The USADA procedure includes both blood and urine sampling so that all banned substances, some of which do not show up in urine alone, are tested for thoroughly.
“It is unfortunate to hear this from Manny Pacquiao’s representatives, particularly since, as of today, both parties had worked out all other issues related to this fight,” said Schaefer. “Team Mayweather is certainly surprised that an elite athlete like Manny Pacquiao would refuse drug testing procedures which Floyd has already agreed to and have been agreed to by many other top athletes such as Lance Armstrong, and Olympians Michael Phelps, LeBron James and Kobe Bryant.”
Mayweather, who was informed of Pacquiao’s reluctance shortly after Schaefer received word of the impasse, feels Pacquiao has to explain himself immediately or be faced with accusations from the media and the public regarding his own status as a clean and drug free athlete.
“I understand Pacquiao not liking having his blood taken, because frankly I don’t know anyone who really does,” said Mayweather. “But in a fight of this magnitude, I think it is our responsibility to subject ourselves to sportsmanship at the highest level. I have already agreed to the testing and it is a shame that he is not willing to do the same. It leaves me with great doubt as to the level of fairness I would be facing in the ring that night. I hope that this is either some miscommunication or that Manny will change his mind and step up and allow these tests, which were good enough for all these other great athletes, to be performed by USADA.”
Leonard Ellerbe, CEO of Mayweather Promotions said, “We hope that Manny will do the right thing and agree to the testing as it is an egregious act to deny the testing and hence, deny the millions of fans the right to see this amazing fight. We just want to make sure there is a level playing field in a sport that is a man-to-man contest that relies on strength and ability. I still hope this decision is coming from someone in Pacquiao’s camp and not Manny himself as it would be a shame that an athlete of his stature and who represents his whole country would not be able to show the public or his fellow athletes that he agrees to the highest standards in sports competition.”

Why should it matter if blood is drawn after the fight? It does not matter. If Manny was using enhancements then the fight would be ruled to Mayweather for it, monies would be turned over to him for suit in the quad-millions, and Pacquiao would be done with his career and defamation of character would ultimately destroy his legacy and political career.

OK OK OK Something is going all wrong here, From reading Espn the latest, They should have never rushed this fight negotiation between the too of them in the first place I’m pretty sure we knew something like this was going too happen.
I hate too say this but For Pacquio filing that law suit I wouldn’t really blame him too, as suspicious of the steroids still lingering in the air, we still have no prove, but it makes you wonder. Margarito is a physically big welterweight, bigger than most welters and it could be complicated for a shorter guy like Pacquaio presure from a bigger opponent is something that could complicate any opponent.
I don’t think Pacquaio will risk it fighting Tony at this moment, maybe if the wrap thing had never happen then it could have been a big fight, but not at this moment, at least not for now.

I don’t know fadi, I think Mosley is a good opponent for both, specially for Mayweather, that would be a true welterweight championship fight, now Berto is trying to get in line in case Pac vs Money doesn’t happen.
I have mixed feelings about Margarito, I was a huge fan of him, felt really proud that he basically fought his way to the top and took him years to do it, I pay good money for floor seats to go watch Margarito Vs Mosley and then the huge let down with the hole wraps crap.
I still somehow like the guy, he has had a year to think and reflect on what he did, no one got hurt and I think they will give him his license back, money talks and they can still milk some more money out of him, now that Cotto lost and will have a hard time finding a top fight right away I think a no brainier is Cotto Vs Margarito II, everyone will want revenge on Margarito for what happen, the story line and promotion is basically a peace of cake and Cotto has a chance to prove he can beat him clean, I think if the fight does happens Margarito wins again, he has the chance to come back and ask for some forgiveness, I know others may think otherwise and how can I blame them, but everyone makes mistakes, as far as the trainer they should never allow him to step into a ring or gym again.

Yeah Bob is saying the fight is not happening, but he even dropped out of the negotiations 1 week ago, he gets to emotional and I would to, he didn’t want to deal with the hole BS that was going to happen with this fight, I don’t blame him but I still think he’s talking out of emotion and frustration, it’s just to much money to be made to call it quits, Dan Rafael from ESPN shares the same view and I agree.

This is all part of the negotioations, Mayweather always wants thinks his way, 10 mills per pound means Mayweather wont be doing what he did to Marquez, Pacmans camp were very smart about this weight thing, because every pound more for Mayweather would be a huge advantage in this fight.
With the hole testing think I do think that if at the end this fight doesn’t happen because Pacquiao says to to the testing and they don’t come up to an agreement then yeah there probably hiding something, but right now I think it’s all part of the negotiation and Mayweather has done this to many fighters, so it’s about time someone does it back to him.

Bodybuilding is not an Olympic game because to be able to get that mass you need to take steroids, we all know that the point here is that your saying you can only test HGH with blood test, that is not true, it will have a longer detection period 1 week or 2, but urine will also work with a much shorter period 1 or 2 days after it has been taken.
And being a bodybuilder doesn’t make you an expert on the subject, must bodybuilders will take stuff without really knowing how it really works, they just know it works and how to take it and as far as testing goes, who cares? they don’t really test for roids, if they would they would band the whole sport.

You can’t say he’s on something without proof, simple as that, I can’t say he is clean or not, I don’t believe he is on something but only he knows, I just think is not fair to be saying he is on something without having proof of it and the only reason this became an issue is because of Mayweather Sr. , so I think is not only about the testing and making sure everyone is clean, there is something more to it.

Mayweather is playing mind games, that’s all, there is no need for an Olympic style blood test, no need to trow names of other sport Athletes, it’s something no one does in boxing, just because Roger Mayweather started the rumors that Pacquiao must be in steroids, now there should be a different drug test for this fight other than the one every boxer has to take?
Funny Mayweather talks about fairness, and I quote: “It leaves me with great doubt as to the level of fairness I would be facing in the ring that night.” So Mayweather thinks that making another fighter move up and then not even make his own contracted weight, pay the other fighter some money so he doesn’t cancel the fight, and to top that not disclose his weight @ fight night is fair?
He always wants to have the advantage, and now his making sure he has the mind advantage on his side.

See this is whats wrong in boxing, catch weights,different ring sizes, different boxing glove weights, now extra testings, all things that fighters are able to change at their will, how many fights have been won on the scales or at the contract table by making the other fighter agree to something that gives an edge to the other?
Imagine that the next supper bowl, one team will be able to pick the size of the football, change the size of the field, change the rules here and there to tip the scales to their side, and if they want to come in to play with 2 extra receivers in the field they will just give the other team $ 600, 000 ? this is not how it works for any other sports but boxing, this is all preset for every single sport out there. Now is this fair ? please tell me if this fair?
And I agree that Olympic style drug testing should be in place specially for a sport that involves strength and speed, but unfortunately it never has been, but now they have to do it because Mayweather wants to get into Pacquiao’s head, I don’t think so. Still, find a solution to this problem and make this fight happen.
