Despite being in the middle of his intense preparation for his next bout against current WBC lightweight champion Edwin Valero (26-0, 26KO), interim WBC lightweight champion Antonio DeMarco (23-1-1, 17KO) is well aware of the comments that have been attributed to him that have caught the attention of the undefeated Venezuelan champion.

“I don´t like to be the type of fighter that talks bad about my opponents. I don´t thrash talk and I don´t give bad opinions. That is why in interviews I try to give good answers and I concentrate on what I say,¨” DeMarco calmly stated. “Edwin Valero knows that I respect him as a boxer and as a person and I have always said that he is a great champion and for me it is an honor and a privilege to challenge him for his world title. He should know from other interviews of mine that I am not that kind of person.”

DeMarco is also not easily swayed by reports that Valero sees past him and is thinking of bigger future fights instead of their championship bout on February 6th in Monterrey, MX.

¨What I do know is that as boxers we like to dream, and he sees in his future fighting Manny Pacquiao or Juan Manuel Marquez, that we all dream of. He feels comfortable saying that because of his motivation and his confidence in winning and I think it is good, it is the confidence that each one of us has and we must respect it,” DeMarco added. “I will hold back my predictions but If given the opportunity, I would love those fights also.”
