The first fight of Mexican prospect Saul “Canelo” Alvarez under the Golden Boy Promotions banner 
will be on the undercard of the Floyd Mayweather-Shane Mosley mega fight on May 1st, it was announced by Eric Gomez, matchmaker for Golden Boy, in Mexico City.
Alvarez will be fighting on March 6th in Chiapas and after that he will prepare to take part in the semi main event bout of May 1st, Gomez added.
“Mayweather and Mosley have not signed but it almost a given. We are about 98% done, all we need is some loose ends with TV and smaller details. but we are certain that it will happen,” Gomez stated.
“We will begin with the first of three fight that we signed ‘Canelo’ for this year,” Gomez continued. “It will be against one of the top ten welterweights in the world. He wants competitive fights and he is going to get them.”
