It was reported that on Friday a judge denied bail for former world champion Rodrigo “Hiena”
Barrios of Argentina. Barrios will continue behind bars for his involvement with the death of a pregnant 20-year-old woman and injuring six others after a fatal vehicular accident in Mar de Plata, Argentina.
His lawyer, Jose Vera, disputed the order set by Judge Lucrecia Bustos, stating that Barrios was not a flight threat.
“There should be bail. Barrios can not try to change the outcome of the investigation. The collection of evidence is over,” Vera stated to reporters.
According to witnesses, midday last Sunday, Barrios crashed him BMW X5 into a vehicle after running a red light in the beach side town of Mar de Plata, Argentina. The vehicle which he hit lost control and then ran over seven pedestrians who were crossing the street while Barrios speeded away. Six hours after the incident, Barrios gave himself in. Barrios agreed to take tests to verify if he had been drinking. The results have not been received. He did admit that he was at a private party until 3am that morning.
According to his lawyer, Barrios admitted to have had some alcoholic beverage but in moderate quantities.
The 20-year-old victim was six months pregnant who was on vacation in Mar de Plata.
