Where is Valero?

It was rumored that WBC lightweight champion Edwin Valero (26-0, 26KO) was scheduled to land in the border city of Tijuana, MX, today, Saturday

to begin his preparation for his February 6th championship clash agaisnt Interim champ Antonio DeMarco (23-1-1, 17KO) of Tijuana, MX, by way of Los Mochis, Sinaloa.

Now, Gabriel Cordero of FightNews.com is reporting that Valero in fact has landed in Monterrey to better acclimate himself in the city where the match up will take place. SDFights.com contacted their contact within Zanfer Promotions to confirm the whereabouts of the WBC champion but at the time of posting, the unnamed source could not verify the location of Valero’s camp.

The bout will be televised by Showtime in the United States will mark the first time the American channel will broadcast a bout from Mexico in eighteen years.

Earlier this week, Valero participated in the WBC mandated 30 day weigh-in where he tipped the scales at 143 lbs., only 8 pounds over the lightweight limit in which the title will be disputed.
