Oscar De La Hoya and Golden Boy Promotions reiterated their support for former super featherweightchampion Jorge Linares who will return to the ring in March in his native Venezuela.
“We are very happy with the return of Jorge and we are very confident that it will be a sensational comeback,” De La Hoya stated.
Linares signed with Golden Boy Promotions last September.
“The most important thing is that we have faith that he will return to be a world champion,” De La Hoya added. “He must first win his next fight which everybody is waiting for.”
Linares will face Francisco Lorenzo on March 27th in Venezuela. On the same fight card, Anselmo “Chemito” Moreno of Panama will defend his title against the interim champion, Nehomar Cermeño.
Jorge Linares is coming off a surprise KO loss at the hands of Juan Carlos Salgado last year in Tokyo.
