Bernard Hopkins (51-5-1, 32 KOs) evened the score against 41-year-old fellow legend Roy Jones Jr. (54-7, 40 KOs) winning a twelve round unanimous decision on Saturday night at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.

It wasn’t an easy win for Hopkins, Jones played dirty, Hopkins went down on the six round from a seemingly light rabbit punch the fighters had to be restrained by security as they continue to fight after the bell. After a Hopkins rabbit punch in round eight, Jones responded with another rabbit punch that sent Hopkins to the canvas again. Hopkins went down for a third time from a borderline low blow in round ten. Action stopped in the eleventh so the ring doctor could look at a cut Jones sustained from a head butt, ruled unintentional. In the end, Hopkins prevailed 117-110, 117-110, and 118-109.

Hopkins, who was taken to the hospital immediately after the fight, was pleased with the outcome. He’d been chasing Jones his entire career and found gratification that he finally caught him, even if it came many years too late.

Sergio Mora (22-1-1, 6 KOs) stopped Calvin Green (21-5-1, 13 KOs) in round seven of a scheduled ten round middleweight bout. Sergio was cut over the left eye in round one but punched non-stop until referee Russell Mora finally halted the bout at 1:50 in round seven.

NABF super featherweight titleholder Jason Litzau (27-2, 21 KOs) scored a seven round technical decision over six-time world title challenger Rocky Juarez (28-6-1, 20 KOs). The bout was stopped due to a mouse under Litzau’s left eye and because the injury was ruled to be an accidental headbutt. The score was 68-65, 67-66, and 67-66 for Litzau.

  1. As you grow old, you’ll get wiser, eventually your’ll learn to do the tricks specially the dirty ones. You’ll use it for your survival. 🙂

  2. Wow was it that bad? I keep hearing this fight sucked, I was tempted to watch it just for old time sake. I’m glad i didnt waste my money. This fight is about 5 years too late. sounds like hopkins was up to his old tricks again. He is a great fighter but he always did fight dirty though. I’ll catch the repeet on hbo. Its time to retire for both these cats.

  3. I think both of them should do the boxing fans a favor and hang their gloves .The fight was a joke!.

  4. Jones should have retired for good after the Glen Johnson knockout.
Hopkins still looks good despite his age.

  5. This is one of the most boring fights I’ve seen lately, I already knew it was going to be somewhat like this, but come on, Jones Jr. had the pose like he was going to trow something and he didn’t even try, gun shy big time.

What the hell was Hopkins doing? complaining and going down from light rabbit punches? the same punches he was landing harder on the back of the head of Jones Jr. and also a couple of low blows, plus that head bud, that wasn’t unintentional by any means, he even landed another one a few minutes after the one that opened the cut.
I lost respect for Hopkins with his drama and dirty act.
The good thing is I didn’t pay to watch this crap and for $50 I’m not sure who is the sucker who did, I really wonder what the PPV numbers of this was.

Both guys should retire, Hopkins looks like an actress, faking the same low blows and rabbit punches he has always been known for, and Jones Jr is afraid to let his hands go, he keeps on ruining his career, both guys have nothing to prove or be doing up in a ring at their age.

There should be an age limit, no fighter should be able to box past the age of 40!
