  1. I agree Cotto isn’t done. Hiring Steward is a great decision. I know Steward is a “fan” of Cotto; the way the talks about him during his commentary in his fights. Props to him for fighting a top guy for his first fight back after the Pacquiao fight. Losing two fight in a row isn’t the end of the world either. It happened to the best fighter of the last 25 years. Barrera, Hopkins, and James Toney among others. Although Yuri Foreman is not a household name, let’s not count him out just yet. Good luck to both fighters…

  2. I sure hope it’s not too late…he’s been a great fighter so far in his career and has never ran from anyone…we need more fighters like Cotto in the game and less businessmen that pick their own fights

  3. Due to the way Pac dismantled my boy Cotto, a return fight just won’t draw enough interest, I’d dare say. Can Cotto better his November performance?? hmmm… Yes, I would tend to believe so, especially now that he FINALLY was willing to dig into in pocket$ and hire a top quality trainer.

ahhhh… Allow me to be quite frank here, it’s NO secret that the Cotto’s, Miguel and his late dad, were/are known as penny pinching tightwads. After his break-up with his uncle, Miguel was paying an unproven and rather novice Joe Santiago, who happens to be an aquaintance of mine, a weekly salary. Joe is cool, no doubt, but not a trainer that can control Miguel’s focus nor respect as far as FISTIC knowledge is concerned. Miguel didn’t need a FRIEND, he needed an experienced TRAINER/STRATEGIST!! Joe doesn’t know how to develope effective STRATEGIES. He’s a decent asistant but not of the quality that was needed in Miguel’s recent contest.

Here on the Island there wereover a half dozen MORE able trainers available. Per capita speaking Puerto Rico is UNDOUTBEDLY the #1 world champion in the world. You can give the island’s boxiers their props BUT without our share of GREAT trainers this achievement would be IMPOSSIBLE to attain, RIGHT?? Cotto’s pride just wouldn’t allow him to break down and… just plain refused to give up a % of his purses in the Clottey and Pacquiao fights. Most of those “in the know” all agreed that Cotto was making a mistake but refused to comment, not wanting to sound core for being overlooked and not wanting to offend Joe with their opinions.

And now… after the taking much heat since that Pacquiao fight, Miguel is FINALLY making a change and has hired Manny Stewart but jumping up in weight. Cotto has been considered a rather small welter so I guess he realizes that this fight is tougher than most might believe, facing a naturally bigger man who move a bit and throws alot of leather.

Props to Cotto for FINALLY making the move but… is he too late??

  4. No way, I think Cotto wins this fight, be none of those guys should getting close to Pacquiao, we saw what happen to Cotto back in November, he should stay far away from Pacquiao
