Former two time super flyweight champion Cristian Mijares knows that the fight that he will wage on April 10th in Durango against Francisco “Panchito” Arce has all the elements to turn into a war since it might give the opportunity to the younger Arce to avenge the family name.

The bout between Mijares (38-6-2, 17KO) and Arce (30-5-2, 21KO) will be televised by Televisa in Mexico.

The 28 year old Mijares defeated Francisco’s older brother, Jorge “Travieso” Arce, in 2007 in San Antonio, TX, via a brutal unanimous decision.

“To face ‘Panchito” Arce represents a special fight, he is the brother of ‘Travieso’ who I already clearly beat and I am sure that ‘Panchito’ will climb into the ring with feelings and extra motivation to defeat me,” Mijares states recently. “He will want to avenge his brother but I will win and I will offer the the rematch to ‘Travieso.'”

Mijares mentioned that even though Arce spoke disparagingly of him before their bout, Mijares was able to control the action inside the ring.

“I will do the same against his brother ‘Panchito’, I have many plans for this phase in my career and Arce will not be an obstacle in my way,” Mijares explained.

  1. I don’t think Arce can fight successfully against Mijasres and his style. Should be interesting
