The kid from Youngstown, Ohio, has made it clear that he’s heading up to 168, most likely to challenge IBF champion Lucian Bute but also has his eye on Chad Dawson at 175.
Rumor is that Pavlik was struggling to make weight two days before losing at the hands of Martinez. Pavlik had to lose 13 pounds before the weight in.
Pavlik said he actually weighed 182 1/2 pounds the night of the fight but removed most of his clothes so he could cut weight. Reports had him at 178 pounds on fight night. Rumor is that Kelly Pavlik will return to the ring on August 14 or early November, the venue has not been determine yet.
