The three time world champion in as many divisions Erik “Terrible” Morales has recently announced that he will face Scotland’s Willie Limond on September 11th in either Tijuana or Mexico City in his second comeback fight after enjoying a two year hiatus.

Morales, who hails from the Zona Norte of Tijuana, arrived to Mexico City last week on way to the Otomi Mountains where he will be training for his upcoming bout.

“I want to continue to face tough opponents so that I can prepare for a world title in the near future,” Morales stated. “I want to continue my career with important fights.”

Morales (46-6, 34KOs) has captured titles in the super bantamweight, featherweight and super featherweight divisions, all of them the green and gold straps of the WBC.

The thirty-one year old feather-fisted Limond (33-2, 8KOs) is from Glasgow, Scotland, whose both defeats have come from top notch opposition in Amir Khan and Alex Arthur. Currently Limond holds the WBU lightweight title.

More than likely the Morales-Limond bout will be fought in the welterweight division.

  1. I am glad to see Morales back and his taking it easy and not fighting big names just yet.

  2. This is a rather ‘safe’ fight for Erik, the kind that his team feels he needs to build up his credibility. He doesn’t need to build his name, he has plenty of that already but after the Rahim and Pac loses, butwhat he must build up is his marketbility and the FAN’S confidence in him, not so much as the confidence he has in himself, that I believe he still has plenty of right now.
