There Will Never Be Marquez-Pacquiao 3

Juan Manuel Marquez who is scheduled to square off with Juan Diaz on Saturday, July 31, is still hoping to fight Manny Pacquiao for the third time. When Marquez first met Pacquiao in 2004, it was ruled a draw. When they met again four years later in 2008, Marquez lost a split decision.

“Manny Pacquiao, that’s my desire; I want it so bad,” Marquez said. “I want that third fight with him before my career ends. And maybe another one would be to fight Erik Morales or Ricky Hatton, but Manny Pacquiao for sure.”

Though the fights were very controversial, I personally do not want to see the rubber match. Manny Pacquiao has grown to be this mega super fighter who doesn’t have to fight Marquez, unlike Marquez, Pacquiao has kept moving up with no speed bumps and has fought some of the best fighters of today.

Pacquiao’s ambitions have guaranteed him millions and millions of dollars per fight. Instead of sitting around waiting for an opportunity to fall on his lap, Marquez should have kept chasing Pacquiao. If Pacquiao moved up in weight, then Marquez should have moved up. Saying and doing are two different things. I don’t blame Pacquiao or his promoter for not showing any interest in a third bout.

Mr. Gonzales: JMM has been bragging that he defeated Pacquiao twice.I just cannot see the logic that he is literally begging Pacquiao to fight him a 3rd time. He even travelled all the way to the Philippines to make the challenge. Why fight a two-time “loser”? Isn’t that ridiculous? Even Einstein can not see the logic in that.

Marquez vs Pacman would be a good fight. It would be alot more interesting than margarito vs manny. The only reason margarito gets any attention is because of his fight with cotto.Cotto put him on the map. Plus the whole thing with the hand wraps. If it wasnt for cotto margarito would still be a shadow figure fighting on his undercards. He’s basicly an uninteresting person with a boring fighting style. There is nothing about the guy that would make me want to watch another one of his fights. Honestly margarito dosent deserve a fight that big. Marquez deserves a big fight 100 times more than margachito, But apparently boxing has become more like hollywood by playing off the all the drama and B/S. Like I said before I’ll catch the rerun. I’m not paying for that and I’ll only watch the rerun if manny wins lol.

i also disagree. i think marquez vs pacman would be a hell of a fight. ten times better than a margacheto fight. more money and more ppv ratings. so what business sense are some people talking about. on paper and on whatever u put it on marquez vs pacman sound better than pacman vs margacheto.. pacman has to loose what 10 pounds? he will fight margacheto at 150 catch weight. marquez didnt have a catch weight against mayweather he fought at 147. of course he looked sloppy he jumped 2 weight divisions and still lasted 12 rounds. pacman scared of marquez point blank.

      Dude,
Their was a catch weight but Mayweather didn’t make weight. He came in at 147 lbs. Marquez fought a full fledged welterweight that night.

ok if marquez fought at full welterweight how was there a catch weight?? the fight was at welterweight 147.. marquez went up 12 pounds to fight mayweather. thats like pacman after the hatton fight at 140 jumping to 154 to fight martinez.. sounds kind of tough huh…so the fight with mayweather was at 147 only thing mayweather came in a little bigger and heavier

The catch weight was 144 lbs. Mayweather couldn’t make weight and paid $600,000 for it. That money went to Marquez.
Who the hell is Martinez ? Pacquiao fought Cotto at 147 lbs after Hatton.

I really doubt Marquez at 37 years old will want to put on extra weight go after a now natural welterweight in Pacquiao. Although money is a big motivator.

On the business side of it, it looks good. PPV buys, etc. But think about this…Pacquiao has been fighting full fledged welterweights and has beat them convincingly. He destroyed Hatton inside of two rounds at 140 lbs. You think Marquez can come up to a catch weight (him being a lightweight now)and be competitive against Pacquiao ? Just my thought, no disrespect to your comments…

he has had 2 fights at welterweight lol so how has he been fighting full fledged welterweights lol. he fought cotto at a catch weight 145 thats not full fledged welterweight. ohh and he fought the human punching bag clottey at 147. why didnt he ask clottey for a catch weight? cause he dont fight back maybe?? now he is fighting margacheto at catch weight 150. these have been all catch weights. Marquez a true warrior jumping into somebodys weight division and 2 weight divisions at that to fight a champ. so yea pacman all he has to do is loose ten pounds and meet marquez at the 140 division. ten pounds aint nothing for a champ like pacman or is it??

Let’s not be sympathetic on JMM because of the previous match results he had against Manny. We all know that he is one of the best fighters we have right now but looking for a 3rd match with P4P King will not be good. Look at where Manny is right now. He’s not that stupid to go down and drain himself to fight at a lower weight class. He’s in good shape right now in his current weight class and dominating. Edgar’s comment on both fighters accomplishments are clear and evident. If JMM wants a piece of Pacquiao, he’ll have to move up and defeat one of the best there.

JMM did not do well against PBF and the match was one sided in PBF’s favor. Remember that PBF is so scared of Pacquiao and made a lot of ducking tactics. JMM should get over it.

    Jesus,
I think JMM can make 140 lbs easily .The guy was ropped in the second fight and the unfinished business between them should be
clinched through a third fight .
This is my opnion and no disrespect to yours .
JMM is the only one who gave Pacman hard time and battered him badly .
    Thanks for you input .

      love boxing,
I don’t doubt that Marquez can make 140 lbs. He came in at 144 against Mayweather. My point was that Pacquiao may not want to come down in weight now that he will fight at 154 lbs vs Margarito. Who does he think he is, Henry Armstrong ??

I think JMM won the second fight against Pacman.Manny’s faced was pummled like dough.
The first was a draw and the second fight was a clear unjust .
Both fights were very competitive and I think a third fight will be very logical to transpire.
In this one I disagree with Edgar !

Have to disagree with you…. Pacquaio and Marquez would be a great rematch!!!! Come on Marquez gave Pacquaio the best fight of his career that no one has ever given or has ever been able too. They were going toe to toe, in both their fights .. Look at these other rematches that have been going on.. Waste of time….
