I was reading Kevin Iole boxing mailbag from Yahoo! Sports and there was one question which stood out that I think many feel the same way, but I think Kevin nailed it.
Q: To hell with Antonio Margarito, I say. It’s disgusting that he was caught cheating and still will get a huge pay day. Margarito deserves a big bout about as much as Luis Resto. Why can’t Manny show some class and give someone a fight that actually deserves it? I would love to see Manny fight Marcos Rene Maidana.

A: The differences between Margarito and Resto, Asa, are many. Resto was convicted of a crime for fighting with doctored gloves in a 1983 New York bout against Billy Collins. Margarito was not convicted of a crime against Shane Mosley, when he was caught with a hard object in his hand wraps. Resto fought with the doctored gloves and Margarito did not. Resto eventually admitted he knew the padding was pulled from his gloves by trainer Panama Lewis; Margarito swears up and down that his trainer, Javier Capetillo, was the culprit. I wish he wasn’t getting this fight, but this is one case where Manny deserves blame. Arum brought both Miguel Cotto and Margarito to Manny as potential opponents and has said repeatedly on the record that Manny chose Margarito.
I’m with you there Jesus, The whole margarito-cheating thing has gottin old. Margarito can still apply for a lisence in other states and hes about to get the biggest fight-payday of his career. So I dont undestand what all these dudes are crying about. Clottey apparently has a fear of getting knocked out and stops throughing punches at criticle times of a fight. Margarito dosent have such fears, He will come to fight and try to win the biggest fight of his life. I would consider margarito a much more dangerous apponent than clottey. It would be crazy if he beat pacman, I think it would change the dynamics of future match ups.

We can all argue our points back and forth, assumptions and all but it looks like Margarito vs Pacquiao will happen. CSAC can’t stop anyone from fighting outside Cali anyway. I hope Margarito comes to fight though. I don’t want to seee a repeat of the Clottey fight.
u do know resto took off the padding and replaced it with actual plaster besides getting performance drinks in between rounds? That was plaster not a pad with some substance…..

@ mexicanmafia, First of all how old are you? Sometimes I think I’m talking to 12 year old. My comments were about margarito not cotto. Did you get your ass beat in a race riot or something? I ask because you seem like you have some sirious race issues kid. If cotto was caught doing what margarito did I would say the exact same thing “he dosent deserve to fight”. Remember it was a plaster like substance, Meaning when its soft it can be molded into shape. Its soft when you put it on and it takes the shape of your hand so noone can tell that its there. The “plaster” was under the padding and then gets wrapped with tape. The only way to know for sure would be to check the wraps after he took them off. Moselys trainer didnt say the wraps look bad, He said they felt hard. In other words you wouldnt be able to tell just by looking at them. Not only does margarito not deserve a fight this big, He dosent deserve the right to box EVER. I’ll go a step further and say that anyone that has real respect for the sport of boxing should boycot Margarito fights altogether. Personally I’m not going to indulge the B/S, I’m just not paying to watch a cheater make millions. And it makes no differance to me who hes fighting. Margarito is a disgrace and if he really didnt know what was in his glove then he stupider than he looks.
I am still not sure what to think about this whole situation. Sometimes its upsetting thinking margarito would do that. Then other times i think about these same situations your talking about here. Why would he give interviews with his wraps on in full view if they are loaded.. etc..etc..Even i dont agree with the Tijuana Tornado getting a shot at many but I think he still deserves to fight. His mistake according to him was just trusting his trainer.

If you look at all his previous fight ,you will see that Margarit doffed his gloves and stand there
for the interviews with his hands wrap .
If he had something to hide ,he would have taken his gloves like nothing is happening .
Margarito is an outstanding pugilist and innocent of all the scurrilous accusation.
