Calling all Boxing Fans this Saturday, August 21, 2010, ‘The Kid: Chamaco,’ the latest feature film by Los Angeles-based Rogue Arts will premiere at the prestigious 14th annual Los Angeles Latino International Film Festival.

Mexico co-production between Rogue Arts and Ivania Films, Mexico City, Chamaco is a timeless story of redemption and hope, struggle and triumph, told in the gritty world of boxing. The film tells the story of a father and son who overcome their differences to rescue a young Mexican teenager with big boxing dreams off the hard streets of Mexico City.

Legendary four-time world boxing champion Marco Antonio Barrera makes a special appearance in the film, playing himself.

Founded by award winning producer Moctesuma Esparza (“Selena”, “Gettysburg”, “The Milagro Beanfield War”). Maya Entertainment is in its second year as a groundbreaking distribution company focusing on, but not limited to, the Latino market. Esparza has also opened the burgeoning theatre chain Maya Cinemas in several cities. Maya Entertainment titles include “The Line” starring Andy Garcia and Ray Liotta, and “The Ministers” starring John Leguizamo and Harvey Keitel.

“Chamaco” will screen in competition in the Opera Prima category for first-time filmmakers and new films. “Chamaco will screen at 7:30 pm, Saturday, August 21st, at the LA Latino Film Festival (For festival schedule visit www.latinofilm.org) located at the Mann Chinese 6 Theater in Hollywood.
