Roy Jones Jr., is off the hook citing a hand injury and withdrawing Wednesday from his scheduled Oct. 7 cruiserweight fight with Danny Santiago. The entire card, which was to have featured boxing matches and MMA bouts at the Pensacola Civic Center in Pensacola, Fla., Jones’ hometown, has been postponed with no given redo date.

This might be sad news for some but for others including myself, its great news. I was not looking forward to seeing Jones in the ring again. Jones has lost his last two fights, a first-round knockout to Danny Green in December in Australia followed by a one-sided decision loss in a rematch with longtime rival Bernard Hopkins.

Although the cruiserweight limit is 200 pounds, Jones and Santiago were scheduled to meet at a contract weight of 185. Can you imagine how Jones was going to fight at 185?!

Sorry Captain Hook, you can now drink that bottle of rum Aaargh…
