Juan Manuel Marquez retained his title with a ninth round TKO over interim champ Michael Katsidis on Saturday night at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Katsidis dropped Marquez in round three with a left hook to the chin. Marquez, however, recovered and for the most part was in control of an action packed bout before it was waved off at 2:14 of round nine by referee Kenny Bayless.
“I want to fight Pacquiao for the third fight.” said Marquez after the fight. “I know there’s other fighters out there that deserve to fight me but without a doubt, I deserve a third fight with Manny Pacquiao, but he keeps coming up with excuses.”
Rumors of Pacquaio not taking a fight with Marquez at a catch weight floating around, Marquez, soundly dismissed the idea that a third fight take place at 147 pounds as an excuse.

Enough of the critics or pro Pacman. One thing is sure and clear, Pacman is on top no matter what you say but it’s the fact! Peeky914 what’s good my brotha, Locke here. You’ve stated some valid points but i’m gonna have to disagree about the Marquez match-up. Its quite obvious Pac is disregarding that match. Who wouldn’t want to take the fight which can generate the most revenue out of the possible bouts? Who wouldn’t want to finally silence critics? I mean Marquez is coming at Pac’s neck & all he can do is ignore the challenge? Not a good look.
You all make good points except for the Martinez thing. I think it would be a big mistake for manny to take that fight. JMM is wants two things, 1.to finally beat pacman, 2. A big pay day before he retires. And of course it will be a great fight. The good part about Pacman vs Mosely is that we havent seen it already, which is the only down side to JMM vs Pacman. Pacman vs Berto would be good because 1.It would be nice to see manny take on a fast, strong, young guy and not another old fart on his way out of boxing. 2. Its about time Berto got tested. I’d rather see Berto fight mosely or cotto, but Pacman vs Berto will be a good fight too. They are all good fights but I think everyone(me included) just wants to see a clear and clean cut win between JMM and Pacman. I understand what some of you guys say about manny making weight, I dont like the fact that he was allowed to fight for a 154lb title when he cant make the weight (not cool). The whole thing about manny cherry picking is nonsence. If you didnt complain when that assclown mayweather does it then dont complain of someone else does it,even though I dont think thats the case at all. It doesnt make sence to say he’s avoiding a guy he already faught twice. I believe manny fighting clottey, margarito, cotto, delahoya just proves that he will fight anyone. Thats something mayweather cant say.

At the start, I would boldly predict that Manny will definitely be retiring from boxing, for a couple of cogent reasons: 1, As I keep on saying, Pacquiao is now a full-time politician, Philippine politics is his top priority, boxing is a part-time job.2. Pacquiao was badly hurt in his last fight (remember, the blow on his right rib-cage,a hit he agonized for quite a while though he never talk about it, a pain he never experienced before), Margarito’s blow may just have put Pacman on retirement plans.Lastly,Manny’s vaunted magical amulet (if you believe in this, they call that in the Philippines as “anting-anting”) may just be running out of power! Margarito suffered a bad cut on his cheek because of wrong fight tactics.Am a Pinoy, but surely not a bad loser, just take note or keep track on these personal observations, as a future point of view. i agreewith u about manny being able to make the weight, but the fight manny is lookin for is with mayweather, but he won’t get it due to legal issues..the only other fight to take is wit Martinez @ 154, which could mean trouble for pacman, but that’s why he askin for marquez to come up..cuz he’s gonna fight martinez @ 54 and he feels it would only b acceptable @ 47…and i tell you now, even though marquez looked good in his last fight last saturday, pac’s been looking good also and although marquez might be the only person able to hang 12 wit the pac, i still think pac might b too much for him…he’s been in there with bigger punchers and his body got acustomed to absorbing bigger pains, he’d walk thru marquez’s punches nd finally finish the specualtion in dramatic fashion.

Roach KNOWS he’s up for war against Marquez. Styles make fights, and Marquez style is simply one that will probably always give pacman trouble, UNLESS, Marquez slows down significantly.
So, this fight NEEDS to happen now, because Marquez is not getting any younger.
Why Marquez?
Well, why not?
Boxing is a business. And right now, Marquez vs Pacman will generate tons of cash. More than Berto/Pacman. Mosley/Pacman.

Marquez should beat the top lightweights before challenging heavier fighters. I don’t think he can beat the top superlightweights, Khan, Maidana, Bradley, etc, much less a welterweight. I guess money is a wicked motivator.

What logic is he using? He has no respect to decisions that already have been rendered. He visited the canvass 4 times. It is he who is looking for a fight with the 8th division world champion, he should fight, if ever, Pacquiao at the latter’s current weight division, Welterweight or Jr. Middleweight and it should be 90-10 in Pacman’s favor. Or he should first fight Chris John, Cotto, Clottey, Margarito, Dela Hoya. okay we boxing fans got know ,it’s a weight game that Roach and manny have being playing all this years .When they found out that fast oponent are really dangerous because of speed and being a perfect match for manny speed they decieded to put on some weight gradually in order to fight heavy opponents who are slow such as Clotty,Cotto and margarito.
