The trash talking but always entertaining former three-time world champion Ricardo Mayorga gets ready to throw down on Dec. 17th from the American Airlines Arena in Miami. Mayorga hasn’t fought for almost two years. If you recall, Mayorga’s MMA scandal when he convinced burgeoning MMA promotion Shine Fights that he was not under any contractual obligation to Don King but at the end, Don King got an injunction against Shine halting Mayorga’s MMA fight with Din Thomas.

I truly believe Mayorga’s MMA fight was simply one [emember_protected]long, loud attempt to get King’s attention to get him bigger fights or at this point, any fights.

In a recent media work out, Mayorga expressed his interest in fighting the best,“I want to fight at 154 pounds. Cotto, Pacquiao, any of them will do. I can beat the Filipino. If his preference is to fight me, I’m ready. Pacquiao gave an opportunity to Margarito and he could do the same for me.”

I don’t think Mayorga will get the opportunity of a life time any time soon. First he will need to be move up to the main event and Mayorga will be part of the undercard this time on Dec 17.

Olympic heavyweight gold medalist Odlanier Solis vs Ray Austin will be the main event while Tavoris Cloud takes on Fulgencio Zuniga as the co-main event.

What’s your opinion, should Mayorga just hang up the gloves?[/emember_protected]

  1. @Bori hmmmm… I don’t think that Chavez Jr would want to be in the SAME STADIUM with Mayorga, let alone in the SAME RING!! Team Chavez wouldn’t know how well Julio Jr would react to The Wildman’s crazy, zany, insulting… antics. Can the innocent youngster hold up when Mayorga calls his mom a “slut”, his dad a “maric*n” and children “little bed bugs” his sister a “prostitute” his dog a “flea filled fagg*t’… while he tries to b*tch slap him at the first press conference?? hahahaha!!!!

  2. I agree with bori. Mayorga can not withstand Cotto’s body attack. I won’t even mention what Pacquiao will do to him. He might as well have the coroner ringside.

  3. i like mayorga lol he talks alot and we need fighters like that to make the sport interesting. but to fight pac or cotto naa. i would like him to fight berto or chavez jr. they would be good fights lol

  4. Mayorga is a clown. he doesnt deserve a fight with either cotto or pacquiao. Its a no win for both of them. mayorga might as well go away. shew him away like a fly.

  5. Ha haha, your so right, he will grab his balls while talking smack about your goldfish and at the same time smoking a cigarette. lol

  6. Edgar, you’re also VERY right too. Mayorga’s antics did make his fights vs Trinidad and Vargas some entertaining events. And if he were to face… let’s say.. ahhhhh… COTTO, he would make it an event worth seeing. He’d call Miguel’s wife a dirty slut tramp and insult Cotto’s kids, mom, late father, dog, cat, goldfish…, try to slap Miguel during a promotional gig, grab his nut sack and say some really offensive garbage. It’s hard not to buy into some of his trash, right? After all, didn’t Mayorga have a lot to do with the successful ‘build-up’ and profits of his fight with Oscar??

My beef is that “The Wildman” hasn’t done squat to deserve a fight vs a Cotto or a Manny or any of the elites. Now, how about IF… Margarito needs a well known opponent for a comeback fight?? hmmmm…. Now THAT is what I consider a fight worth watching BY ALL MEANS!!

  7. @Ez your so RIGHT! I am guilty, Though Mayorga is not always on top shape I am willing to pay cause his Entertaining. Remember when he fought Tito Trinada or Fernando Vargas those where classic.

  8. Mayorga has had A LOT of success talking his way into quite a few good $$$ events and now he’s looking to talk his way into the “spotlight” once more. For some OBVIOUS reasons many fans are always willing to pay to see his butt kicked and trap shut. The sad part is that as long as folks are willing to pay promoters like Don King will always hype, sell and sacrifice him at a profit.

Pacquiao?? Cotto?? Gimmie a break, you clown.

  9. Who is he to challenge Pacquiao? Even Cotto? We’ll I guess he should go and fight thugs on the streets!
