WBA World Lighweight champion Miguel Acosta (28-3-2, 22 KOs) and challenger Brandon “Bam Bam” Rios (26-0, 19 KOs) held a press conference at The Palms Casino in Las Vegas for there fight tomorrow on Showtime.

Rios is to be favorite to win because of his punching power, heart and punishing performance against his recent foes Anthony Peterson and Omri Lowther. The Venezuelan may have a 27-8-2 record, but the 8 losses are quite deceiving. After beginning his career 0-5, Acosta shook off the rough start and, after dropping another three in a row in 02-03, has gone 19-0 and knocked out 14 of his opponents. After claiming the WBA title by knocking out Paulus Moses, Acosta doesn’t plan on losing in his first title defense against the 24-year-old Rios.

”I believe I can become world champion and show everyone that I’m ready for the best lightweights in the world and Miguel is the first step,” Rios stated. “On Saturday, everyone is going to see a new world champ. The belt is coming home baby!”

The winner takes a step towards lightweight supremacy while the loser falls several steps back. The co-main event featuring Antonio DeMarco (24-2-1, 18 KOs) from Los Mochis, Mexico will face the WBC Silverlightweight champion Reyes Sanchez (20-3-1, 11KOs) from the Heartland Events Center in Grand Island, Nebraska. Both Fights thousands of miles away all in one channel you got to love Showtime!
