Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. will fight on June 4 against Sebastian Zbik for the WBC version of the middleweight title. The fight will most likely take place at Dodger Stadium but the possibility of being at Staples Center does exist.

Chavez promoter, Bob Arum, said it will be one of the two venues and will confirm next week. There hasn’t been a boxing match at the Dodger Stadium in years. Arum was able to put Miguel Cotto and Yuri Foreman at Yankee Stadium last year which was a big success.

Chavez Jr. threw the ceremonial first pitch last June during the Dodger vs St. Louis Cardinals game.
Bob Arum also confirmed the televised HBO card will feature Rafael Marquez and a tribute to Julio Cesar Chavez Senior., who will get inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in June.

What’s your opinion, should the fight take place at Dodger Stadium?

  1. Chavez Jr. getting a title shot on HBO its really funny to me that they approve Zbik for Chavez but not for Martinez. I guess having Arum and the WBC (SULIAMAN) on your side works out pretty well for phony like Jr. Only a delusional Jr. fan would believe he’s worthy of such things when it is clear he is a mediocre fighter at best who has no business fighting for titles when he barely makes weight and gives mostly sloppy performances. I hope by some luck Chavez loses the fight and slowly fades away to the never-has-been he should be.

  2. @JESUS NO WAY will Junior fight Sturm nor Martinez nor Kirkland nor Williams nor Wolak nor ANYBODY that has a fairly decent chance of defeating him. The WBC/SULIAMAN will fabricate and approve a very UN-worthy opponent and then they will FABRICATE some “out of nowhere” mandatory challenger and so on and so on… until “THE PRICE IS RIGHT” to meet a TRUE top contender and there ends the final chapter of boxing’s soap opera “The Title Days Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.”

  3. IF Chavez wins, will he give a title shot to a worthy opponent ?
Here’s a crazy idea, can he fight a unification fight against Felix Sturm or is that too tough a fight for baby Chavez ??

  4. Well… it’s obvious that Arum is a MILLION TIMES better promoter than Chavez Jr is a fighter. If it actually happens Arum will hype and MILK the Chavez NAME as only he can despite the fact that practically NOBODY had ever heard of Zbik before!!!
