Hearing the same thing over and over, it gets old and eventually you don’t give a crap. I am talking about Floyd Mayweather Jr. fighting Manny Pacquiao, how many times have we heard about the possibilities of them fighting?
According to Bob Arum, Pacquiao’s promoter, there was a third round of negotiations. No one knows where they took place as it was kept private. At this point, it could of have taken place in Batman’s cave, who knows? Bob Arum visited Pacquiao’s training camp in Baguio City earlier this week and told Filipino reporters that there had been a more recent “private negotiation” for the fight.
Let me cut to the chase, according to Arum, Mayweather was asking for $100 million to fight Pacquiao. That’s right, $100,000,000! Seriously, if you don’t want to fight just say “no”. Demanding such a high number simply indicates that he didn’t want to fight. That’s Mayweather’s way of saying no, you price yourself out.
It was rumored that in the last negotiations, each side would take 50 percent of the revenue with a guarantee of $50 million payday plus a share of pay-per-views. It’s hard to understand why someone would turn down such an offer, I mean, who else can offer you $50+ million for a 36 minute fight and that’s if it goes the distance?

@cola, Maybe you think he’s worth $100 Mil but he ain’t that great and nobody is gonna give him that kind of money. If he’s gonna be complaining about making 50 Million and can beat Pacquiao so easily as he thinks then why not get that easy money and take him out? Too many games on his part and I agree I think he can beat Pacquiao but the crap he’s been pulling is making me really doubt him now. I don’t care what ANYONE says – this is not the heart of a true champion…it is the heart of
a scaredy-cat. Any comparison between Mayweather and any other REAL champs will bear this out – Joe Louis, Ali, Foreman, Holyfield, etc etc etc…they fought EVERYONE who wanted to fight them. This is the first time we’ve ever seen this – a fighter who is scared to fight.
Sadly, his legacy will NOT be what he envisions it will be – rather, it will be a legacy of someone who had ring skills, but spent the PRIME YEARS of his career ducking and dodging, coming up with the most stupid and transparent of excuses to avoid fighting people that a TRUE champ would be very eager to fight. Nah – he’s a lost cause. And he’ll have to live his life out knowing in his heart that he ducked the best fighters of his time — and he’ll hate himself, and be miserable, on account of it.
Mayweather is finished no matter what he does. He will never be the best cuz he never beat all the best and never made an effort to do so, So he’ll just have to settle for one of the best. Even if he wanted to he cant achieve what he cliams to be which is “TBE”. The simple fact is Floyd is too afraid to do what it takes to be the best. There are still some good fights for Floyd out there but he’ll never be a greater champion than those he will be forced to face, and I do mean FORCED. People like Cotto, Martinez, and Pacquiao are great opponents not to mention a few others. There’s no good reason why Floyd cant fight all these guys. Just because some ppl including mayweather might have the opinion that he could beat them doesnt make it so. If they never fight we will never really know. “The Saddest Story In Boxing” has been told and this is the end of the circus that is mayweathers career. I just want him to take the fight and get it over with already.
