There were rumors of Michael Katsidis getting injured during a recent sparring session which required the lightweight contender to get 5 stitches above his eyelid which would force him to pull out from his fight against Robert Guerrero (28-1-1, 18 KOs) on the HBO PPV undercard of the Erik Morales-Marcos Maidana fight at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on April 9.

Katsidis, who is currently training in Thailand, did suffer a cut but Katsidis himself clear the rumor of him pulling out.

“Lots of talk of me pulling out of the fight, Im Michael Katsidis, not Robert Guerrero, I won’t be pulling out with a cut, I’ll be knocking out!,” stated Katsidis on twitter.

Meanwhile, Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero is currently training with his father/trainer Ruben at the Pound for Pound Boxing Gym in Las Vegas.

  1. I hope Katsidis beats Guerrero so he can stop saying he is better than JM Marquez. Guerrero is overrated.

  2. Not sure what he really meant by “I’ll be knocking out!” is he saying he will be knocked out? or he will knocking out Guerrero?

What I do know is that Katsidis is a warrior, and it will be a fun fight to watch, I can picture Katsidis wiping the blood out of his eye and still coming forward to fight.

  3. I agree Robert will win, but that after hearing that comment I’m sure he hexed himself and will go down before the fight hits 12.

  4. Glad it was just rumors, it would have been a big blow to the card. Also good one on Katsidis’ part about the cut joke but I think the Ghost beats him via decision in a action fight.
