Its funny how Ricardo Mayorga to this day hopes to get a rematch with Oscar De La Hoya as he continues to call him out, I guess he too might have heard the rumor of the “Golden Boy” coming out of retirement and fighting on June 18 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
The rumor first started of Oscar wanting to fight Ricky Hatton then Cesar Chavez Jr. and he jokingly stating he wanted to fight Juan Manuel Marquez didn’t help either. Golden Boy is trying to re-sign lightweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez whose contract expired Feb. 28. Marquez is desperately willing to leave Golden Boy in hopes of getting the third fight with Manny Pacquiao.
Knowing that Golden Boy can’t offer Marquez any good fights, Oscar De La Hoya said laughing, “I can always make 147.”
Of course he was only kidding according to De La Hoya.
In a recent interview by Dan Rafael of ESPN, Rafael was able to set the record straight of Oscar De La Hoya coming back is just a rumor and Oscar has no intention of coming back what’s so ever.
“I get it all the time,” Oscar said. “People say all the time, ‘Let me talk you into it, there’s a lot of money,’ whatever. Fans say I should fight again. They say, ‘You can’t go out the way you did.’ I guess I will hear it forever. But I have decided, and nothing is changing. I loved the training. I loved being in the gym but I’m decided: There is no way I am even thinking about it. Throw that out the window. There’s no reason to come back. I don’t feel any reason to come back and fight competitively.”
Why don’t you mention N. Donaire’s victory over V. Darchiniyan?
It would be interesting to see him fight Jr. but he wont come back and I dont blame him he can beat guys like Chavez but thats about it.
There’s no reason for Oscar to come back. He has done everything he was going to do in boxing. He doesnt need the money nor does he have anything to prove. It would have been cool for him to out with a win though.
I wouldn’t mind see Oscsr fight Chavez Jr.

He has no reason to come back, I knew it was just rumors when I heard about it.
