After taking a two-year layoff Winky Wright, who was supposed to return April 09 as part of the under for Erik Morales-Marcos Maidana, injured his left hand during a sparring session which forced him to pull out.

His hand is not fractured according to his doctor, it’s only swollen and sore. It’s bull crap if you ask me. Who knows when Wright, 39, will get back in the ring. Just glad Winky will soon retire. Winky hasn’t won a fight since December 2006.

Matthew Macklin and manager Brian Peters will meet with Golden Boy this week to discuss the options but at this time there is no word who will replace Wright in the fight.

Should Winky Wright just retire now?

  1. Agree with Jonny, usual crappy under cards, “specially for a PPV!” nothing more to prove for Winky, to late for a comeback.

  2. Wasn’t at all excited he was on the card anyway so good news there. Hopefully they replace the fight altogether with a good fight. He didn’t look so good last time out and he is already 39 so I say hang em up Wright.
