WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan (25-1, 17 KOs) won a six round technical decision over previously unbeaten European titleholder Paul McCloskey (22-1, 12 KOs) on Saturday night at the M.E.N. Arena in Manchester, England.

Khan and McCloskey clashed heads in the six round, the referee immediately brought the fight to an abrupt for the ringside doctor, Phil Sahu, who believed McCloskey couldn’t continue with blood seeping into his eye and impairing his vision.

Khan won all the 6 rounds. Rumor is Khan will take on Tim Bradley in July for the WBC/WBO titles.

  1. @bori 4 life ,he will fight bradly soon my friend and by the way Mccloskey is not a bum .the guy is the European champion and he ranks tenth in his division .please try to understand that the fight was stopped in the sixth round so it is hard to tell if Khan did bad or good .According his performance during the first half of the fight ,I got to agree with to an extent about his performance ,but do not forget that mccloskey is an awkward fighter and it take time to figure out a way to find keys to beat him. This is my opinion and you are entitle to yours. It awesome to discuss boxing .

  2. @mrboxing… a tune up fight is what fighters do while there are no gd fighters in the division… ok he is on the 140 division full of talent and has some 135pounders out for him…. so why go from a maidana to a nobody?? khan didnt look gd at all against mc closkey..

  3. @ bori 4 life ,this is called a tune up fight that boxer resort to in order to stay active while waiting for something better .

  4. I think that Khan won the fight convincingly because it was not up to him to stop the fight .he won every round he faught .he was the busier fighter and he initiate the action in every single round .Mccloskey was waiting for the ko punch but he did not avail ,moreover,he did not he was on the defensive side throughout the six rounds .
I have to agree that Khan missed a lot of his punches ,but he was the more active and effective fighter .
Mccloskey did not offer nothing to make people believe that he was at the same level of Khan .He is just good at concocting excuses and uttering them with his brogu.
Khan won all the six round ,therefore ,Paul should be ashamed of himaelf to pretend that he was vying for the belt .
The bottom line ,Khan did not stop the fight and a rematch is absolutely a rubbish thought.

  5. I didn’t expect much from this fight to begin with but I was glad it was over in 6. If the way Khan fought here is to be anything close to the way the fight with Bradley will be I see another Bradley/Alexander flop of a fight. Given your already getting a wild sloppy fighter in Bradley who’s head always leaves it’s mark and the way Khan was fighting against McCloskey I see clash of head resulting in technical decision on our hands in a sloppy fight.
