The Super Six World Boxing Classic is almost wrapping up, but before the Finals later this year, the second semi final bout between Carl Froch and Glen Johnson takes place Saturday June 4th in Atlantic City, New Jersey for the right to face Andre Ward.

Earlier this week MyBoxingFans.com had a chance to be part of the Super Six conference call that included both Froch and Johnson.

Carl Froch was the first to speak and Froch had plenty to say, he started the call off with a little recap of his past fight with Kessler and stated he felt as if he was still an undefeated fighter, the loss was a “kick in the ass” as Froch stated. Frochalso said he feels the best he has been, stating he is doing the same amount of sit up, push up, pull ups and dips that he was doing when was 26 or 27; Froch is now 33. He also said that he was ready to go 25 rounds if need be.

When asked if Froch-having the more difficult fights (Dirrell, Kessler, Abraham) than Glen Johnson had against only Allen Green; if he felt that would make any difference in the fight next Saturday, Froch stated the he had two fairly easy fights with Andre Dirrell and Arthur Abraham and even stated that Dirrell was an “easy nights work” and that he has done more damage shaving than Dirrell had done to him.

Froch also said he would have preferred to face Kessler than Johnson due to the fact that Kessler does have the win over him and he would like to change the outcome, but he is not looking past Johnson and is preparing for Johnson.

The second part of the call had Glen Johnson speak and Johnson started off his call being asked if Froch was similar to any of the other opponents he faced and Johnson stated that Froch was tall but fought as a small fighter and didn’t use his height as he should.

Johnson was then asked what advantages he had over Froch, Johnson simply said “my advantage is being Glen Johnson; I know boxing inside and out.”

Johnson said that he wasn’t concerned with Froch. Johnson also acknowledged that he was not getting any younger when he was asked if this may be the end of Glen (if he loses), but also went on to say that he knows he has a lot of talent and skills left and if people are looking at his age then they are not focusing on his skills and what he brings to the table.

In the end Johnson stated he look forward to break Carl Froch down and he liked what Froch brought to the table but he won’t be successful and that Froch is in a world of trouble.

The semi final round will air on Showtime Saturday June 4th, 9pm Eastern 6pm West, with Mikkel Kessler versus Mehdi Bouadla on a tape delay cast first then Live from Atlantic City, New Jersey will be Froch versus Glen Johnson.

  1. I agree with you Jesus also I think Froch/Ward would be a much better fight than Ward/Johnson. I like the old man but I also want to see two that started in the tournament finish it.

  2. I hope Froch wins on Saturday so we have a final match between two fighters that started in the tournament. Nothing against late comers.
