Robert Guerrero is moving up another weight class to challenge the junior welterweight slugger Marcos Maidana. The bout would take place Aug. 27 at the HP Pavilion.
“It’s a big opportunity for Robert and another big fight for Maidana. A win here can really establish Robert in the 140-pound division. He’s a big guy and can definitely move up to 147 as well. A win over Maidana makes him a factor in that 140-pound division, which we all know is one of the best in boxing. The winner could potentially fight the winner of Amir Khan and Zab Judah,” stated Golden Boy promoter Richard Schaefer.
At first there was an issue between WBA junior welterweight titlist Amir Khan and Marcos Maidana as the WBA mandated that Khan-Maidana come to an agreement to fight, with September 11 being the deadline. Thankfully the WBA was able to come to an agreement with both camps.

Prescott status quo as a fighter is beneath khan’s .He needs to pay his dues to acquire a bout with Khan .your logic is totally fallacious because a boxer should prove himself and then call out others .Prescott ranks way below Khan and Prescott has not proven anything since Khan’s fiasco ,whereas ,khan moved on and became a champion .
According to your logic ,Pac man should avenge his two losses a decade ago in order to establish himself as P4P before the public .
Bottom line ,boxers are prone to lose by KO ,but a real boxer moves on and purse great goals in the sport and this is what khan did unlike Prescott who has not accomplish nothing .
It is not fair to obligate Khan to fight Prescott because Prescott is ought to elevate himself to Khan’s level in order for the fight to make sence financially and competitively .
Seriously ,how would you allot the purse between a world champion and a boxer who ranks way below this world champion ?!
Presccot needs to earn his shot against King Khan and he needs to stop harpping on the same non- sence .

@boxingisart I criticize Bradley plenty even before he ducked Khan, Bradley is now irrelevant because he chose to become that way even before so I always said Bradly is overrated that he’s not even a draw I even say Khan will stop Bradley. I’ll give Khan his dues when he stops ducking as well, he’s ducked Prescott and he talks too much for somebody who had the man who stopped him pretty much begging him when he was looking for a tune-up fight when nobody was willing to fight him for the pennies that were offered Prescott was willing to do it but he went for Mccloskey (who?) makes me wonder if he’s afraid because I don’t buy “he’s not on my radar” the man who put you down in front of your own home crowd in 1 round should always be on your radar especially when you’ve both moved up. So don’t get all mad cuz I just rather see him in with The Ghost over Judah and at the time when everybody was turning him down he should have fought Prescott. My opinion thats all it is i’m not asking for him to fight everybody “in one night” I’m sure he will fight the Ghost if Bradley keeps running after the Maidana fight I’m not saying Khan is a awful fighter in fact I even have him over Judah even think he’s the best at 140 at this time but I want to see the move up for The Ghost and then go from there judging by his size I think he and Khan will put on a show but in my OPINION I see The Ghost winning. I want to see him avenge that ugly loss I have no doubt the fight will be different and Khan will come out on top when he’s looking for a tune-up down the road I think Prescott should get that chance it can only help Khan’s image.
This should a awesome fight. I might have to go with Maidana..
@Jonnyboy,perhaps Khan can fight every single boxer out there in order for you to be content or perhaps he can fight Maidana ,the ghost ,Morales ,Bradly ,Judah ,pac man ,Floyd,
Berto,Ortiz and Alexander in one night .

Can’t wait ! This is a terrific match-up. I’d really like to see Guerrero give Maidana a nice boxing lesson, this one’s a tough pick. I don’t believe that Robert can beat Khan however, I know I’ll get some flack for that statement, Guerrero has the better chin, Khan the better speed. If that one come’s off right now I’d take Khan by a tight decision (I learned many-many years ago when picking or betting on fights to use your head, not your heart). But we’re jumping ahead here, let’s see how Guerrero looks against Maidana.
I think this is to show why Khan should have fought The Ghost over Judah, he’s going to control Maidana all night and look great doing it. I think this kid has all the skills to beat Khan and I want to see this fight cuz Maidana always brings it.
The ghost will school Maidana and expose him badly .
