A close reliable source has exclusively told me that Erik Morales will be taking on the veteran Jose Luis Castillo in early 2012 as a tune up fight before taking on Floyd Mayweather.

The Morales vs Castillo will take place in Mexico. Castillo known for his fights with Diego Corrales has been border line to retired and recently lost to Jorge Paez Jr earlier this year and also lost to Alfonso Gomez at the Cowboys Stadium.

Though Castillo is no longer a worthy opponent, he is expected to make $70-100K for taking on the 140-pound WBC champion.

In recent reports, Golden boy’s match maker Eric Gomez denied the rumors of negotiating with Mayweather. The rumors began after Mayweather’s adviser Leonard Ellerbe announce the return of Mayweather on May 5th at the MGM grand.

My source says the deal between Mayweather vs Morales is a done deal. As I stated on my previous article, I knew Mayweather wasn’t going to fight Pacquiao. Floyd is 42-0 and this fight against Morales seems like a step backward for Floyd but Morales with 52-7 and 36 KO’s took Maidana to the limits and depending who you ask, many boxing critics will say Morales deserved the victory.

I am also being told win or lose to Mayweather, Erik Morales will retire with a farewell fight in the fall of 2012.

  1. I thought Manny Pacquiao lost the fight against Marquez, but fortunately Pacquiao was still the king of the ring.

  2. I too use to like Jose Luis Castillo he was one of my fav, but after him not making weight several times… I lost all respects for him.

Think about it, Its going to be Cinco De Mayo weekend you have to fight a Mexican.

  3. Lord plz!! dont let this be true, If it is Mayflower is a bigger coward than thought and is just looking to get a big payday at the expence of the mexican fans. Everyone should boycott this fight, what a waste of time. Castillo was a very dangerous fighter back when he fought corrales and when he gave Mayflower his first real loss but he’s done now.

  4. fuck and sucks your words weather weather may to december!!!!!!!!!!!…..lol… pacman beat morales twice!!!!!..who is now sucking the leftover ???,,,uglly duckling niger…grr ! grrr…

  5. I can’t believe it, when I first heard of this I thought there’s no way there can be any fact to the rumor. Now that a reliable source of Edgar’s say’s it’s a done deal it has me worried. I am a major Morales fan absolutely one of my favs of all time. With that said this fight makes about as much sense as a fight between Morales and Castillo at this point. It does nothing for either fighter’s legacy we all know Castillo is washed up and nothing like the warrior he was in his prime. Same can nearly be said about Morales but he has a little more left in the tank but against Mayweather who may not have Maidana’s power but in every other department is far better spells disaster for Morales. I will not buy this PPV as I am not interested in seeing Morales attempt to hang with Floyd. Morales just isn’t the same as he once was, we know it, Morales himself and Mayweather both know this. @Edgar yeah that would be Mayweather’s angle for selling this fight alright lol. I’ll catch it at a bar or something because I simply don’t see myself going through and purchasing this fight.

  6. Morales is one of my favorite fighters and I don’t think he can’t beat Mayweather. It’s another Mayweather vs Marquez fight.

I could already hear Floyd Mayweather saying “Morales is the last Mexican who beat Pacquiao so that’s why I am fighting the best” lol
