As expected, Wladamir Klistchko demolished Jean Marc Mormeck. Knocking out the Frenchman in 4 rounds, Klistchko looked to break more of a sweat in the locker room rather than in the actual ring.
Klitschko is a dominant champion. He does not lose fights, rounds, or minutes of any fight. He is skilled, in shape, determined, has a great team, and what separates him from the rest of the pack, he is huge. A good big man will be a good small man, especially when the big man’s good is better than the small man’s good.
The heavyweight scene is exciting beneath the championship level. There is a lot of competition and young talent being built. The problem is that the overall level, although exciting when matched with one another, is nowhere close to the overall skills of either
Klitschko.
Beneath the surface, the talent is hungry and ambitious to find the big paycheck with a Klitschko fight. That talent is either underdeveloped, over the hill, too small, or chooses to be a human punching bag. The world has seen it time and time again, the current
cream of the crop of contenders face a Klitschko to find out that they are not on the same level. Cris Arreola, Eddie Chambers, Tony Thompson, Samuel Peters, and Hasim Rahman are all incredible fighters. When faced against a Klitschko, there seems to be a disadvantage in one form or another.
Up and coming fighters who look to be promising Klitschko foes include, Mariusz Wach, a huge man who will be able to look either brother right in the eyes, may be ready for a title shot soon. With determination and some more development he may give a brother a run for their money. Although Seth Mitchell is one of America’s hopeful contenders, I believe his lack of experience as an amateur and lack of size will not allow him to be successful anytime soon. If Mitchell continues to develop against big men and sculpts his craft, his conditioning and natural athleticism will be an advantage. Hopefully
he is not matched too soon as he could be a threat down the road. Deontay Wilder is a big man, but needs much more professional development to be a threat. I believe by the time he may be ready to fight a Klitschko, they will have retired by that point.
At the point of retirement, we may see an exciting heavyweight division of guys scrapping for the title. Until then, we all must pay our respect to the Klitschkos
What a sad excuse for a HW title fight, Mormeck didn’t have a chance from the moment the contract was signed and it showed with all 4 punches he landed. I can only give him his dues for actually coming forward and taking this fight despite the vast height difference between the two.
