On the undercard of Orlando Salido-Juan Manuel Lopez II, fight fans get to enjoy seeing Mikey Garcia fight Bernabe Concepcion. Both fighters are 24 years old and boast impressive records. Concepcion is a hard hitting man who has already fought for the title. Garcia, a powerful fighter as well, looks to be close to a title fight.
Garcia has faced and conquered all opposition put in front of him. He has risen to all occasions and is in line for a future title shot, granted that he get passed Concepcion. Concepcion is a huge challenge. He has power and experience. Concepcion has been in with fighters as good as Garcia, but has Garcia fought anyone like Concepcion? Yes, Garcia has fought top contenders as well as former title challengers, but Concepcion is always a dangerous and exciting opponent.
Garcia, has taken less beatings and has no losses. Concepcion has 5. Those 5 include a disqualification, and a knockout loss against Juan Manuel Lopez. He has been beaten up. Garcia has taken less punishment, and although can sometimes get a little wild, has proven to be a smart fighter and very composed finisher.
A decisive win against Concepcion, or knockout, would put him in line for a title fight. I believe that Garcia’s ring smarts and counter punching ability will prove to be successful against the great, but older (in boxing years) Concepcion.
