If you have a twitter account, then you probably witnessed some low blows between Oscar De La Hoya and rapper “50 Cent” a.k.a. Curtis Jackson. Apparently 50 cent, who is good friends with Floyd Mayweather, is getting into the boxing promoting business.
The platinum selling artist founded TMT Promotions, short for “The Money Team”, which has been licensed in New York and according to Nevada state athletic commissioner Keith Kizer is in the process of applying for a license in Nevada.
50 cent is already signing some big names like former featherweight title holder Yuri Gamboa and super middleweight contender Andre Dirrell and I am sure Floyd Mayweather will be part of the list.
For the past several years Golden Boy has been promoting Mayweather’s fights and apparently Oscar De La Hoya is upset that his cash cow is being taken away.
De La Hoya tweeted:
Everyone wanting to be a boxing promoter? Good luck. Easier said then done.- Oscar De La Hoya (@OscarDeLaHoya)
Although the tweet wasn’t directed at 50 Cent, 50 Cent obviously took it as a low blow and fired back with:
@oscardelahoya I don’t gamble floyd do,but I bet you won’t be promoting Floyd mayweather no more. TMT PROMOTIONS – 50cent (@50cent)
Although both had deleted the tweets that were part of their spat several more were sent.
50 Cent tweeted:
“Sweetheart, I’m surprised you would respond to me and Floyd starting company the way you did” and “Baby girl, @oscardelahoya, baby girl you hear me, stop hating STOP IT RIGHT NOW.”
De La Hoya at one point answered him with, “You’re a boxing promoter? Didn’t know, but good luck. Maybe we can work [together] someday. #success #nextgeneration #GBB #TMT.”
50 Cent’s response: “Great back pedal. Can you swim backwards like that too, girl? LOL. I [accept] that as [an] apology.”
With Mayweather scheduled to be released from the Clark County Detention Center on August 3, we’ll see what TMT Promotions has lined up. Meanwhile make sure you follow us on Twitter @MyBoxingFans
