Not only did he garner the interest of Golden Boy Promotions with the great fight that he put forth against former interim WBO champ Alfredo “Perro” Angulo (22-2, 18KOs), but Tijuana fighter Jorge “Pantera” Silva (19-3-2, 15KOs) has also raised the eyebrows of Team Angulo as far as having them speculate that he might have been on performance enhancing drugs for their past December 15th bout. Angulo has gone on record stating that none of his other opponents have been able to take the punches that he landed on Silva and does not understand how Silva did coming from a lower class so the obvious conclusion was that he might have taken an illicit substance.
Angulo and his trainer Virgil Hunter have gone on record stating that there were rumors that Silva was on PED, a fact that Silva denies, “I am a clean, honest fighter and I don’t need to take anything… It’s not my fault that Angulo hits like a puppy,” Silva stated.
Silva, who is managed by former WBO flyweight champion Diego “Pelucho” Morales, is without worries as he prepares himself for his debut bout under the Golden Boy Promotions banner which is slated for some time in April.
