Cano-Mosley

Former three-division world champion Shane Mosley (47-8-1, 39 KOs) won a twelve round unanimous decision over Pablo Cesar Cano (26-3-1, 20 KOs) on Saturday night in a welterweight bout at the Grand Oasis Arena in Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico.

The 23-year-old Pablo Cano was in command from the opening bell but the 41-year-old veteran was landing the more effective shots, taking control of the fight in the later rounds. All boxing betting odds were against Mosley who had been in a four-year losing streak. This was supposed to be a stepping stone for Cano but Mosley wanted to come back, end that losing streak and finish his career on a positive note which he did with all three judges scoring 115-113 for Mosley claiming the vacant WBC International welterweight title.

Though Mosley was legitimately the better man Saturday night, the question remains should he continue to fight or retire once again?

According to a report by ESPN.com before the fight, Mosley believed his losses were due to injuries, saying:

“The last few fights I lost because of injuries, but I’m well,” stated Mosley. “My body tells me I’m well, so we are still going to be doing this for a while. Cano is a tough fighter but I shouldn’t have any problems beating him and being on my way to win a world title.”

Personally I would rather see the future Hall of Famer retire with this win but more importantly win with the help of his father Jack who was the lead trainer for this fight. Mosley would be able to sleep better at night and it would have a positive reputation.

What’s your opinion? Should Mosley continue fighting?
