For us boxing fans, Mayweather vs “Canelo” is an alternative to the dream fight between Mayweather vs Pacquiao a fight that I will not miss. Tickets for Mayweather vs “Canelo” sold out within 24 hours, breaking the all-time box office record for a live gate in Las Vegas of almost $19 million.
This is such a big fight that the WBC is creating a special 24-carat gold belt especially for this fight. They’re predicting over 2 million pay-per-views.
If Mayweather vs “Canelo” wasn’t enough, word is that Golden Boy CEO Richard Schaefer is trying to finalize a match between Danny Garcia and Lucas Matthysse as part of the Mayweather vs “Canelo” undercard, that alone is like adding the icing to the cake.
I have to admit, I had more arguments with my friends about this fight than any other boxing fight ever. The majority of my close friends are Hispanic and for them it’s like they automatically know “Canelo” is going to win regardless of what Mayweather has done in the sport.
I, on the other hand, believe Floyd Mayweather is going to beat “Canelo” in the same fashion Floyd beat Robert Guerrero.
So, when I ask “Canelo” fans why they think the red head is going to win, I always get the same response, “Canelo is bigger and hits harder.”
Now, I am not saying Canelo doesn’t stand a chance, Its boxing and anything can happen but like Floyd Mayweather said in Los Angeles when he was talking crap on Oscar De La Hoya, see video below, “Canelo” hasn’t beaten any worthy opponents or hasn’t beaten 10 former world champions either.
Yes, he beat a past his prime Shane Mosley. The only worthy opponent he has beaten to date is Austin Trout and he didn’t look that great.

I believe Mayweather will beat “Canelo” with his experience alone.

I already have my ticket,and even have a little cash left over ,I plan to have canelo make me a few dollars to pay for that 3000.00 seat I bought, I have been watching and involved in this sport ,my whole life. I have seen the best of the best, and am saddened that this generation are more impressed with the flash of cash and the gansta attitude ,and all the grills and bling . Canelo Is without a doubt one of the best I have ever seen and I have seen them all, you folks who are all about the money are in for a really big surprise come sept. The only changes I would make if I were promoting this fight would be to insist that money face canelo in phone booth so , providing a shoulder to punch on, or a bicycle to ride on were not an option. be wise ,put your money on the real money man , canelo by knockout , before the 7th round. come back after the 15th and tell me , wow mike you really can call them.
Mayweather is a way better boxer than he was when he fought Dela Hoya and I think he won that fight easy…..Mayweather has only improved with each fight….people think he was losing speed and quickness because Cotto was able to get in a few shots….Cotto is a future Hall of Famer
I got to agree with you Edgar, Mayweather’s speed and unorthodox angles will pull it out. Canelo’s “straight on, in the pocket approach” will
not work against Mayweather. Canelo’s power is a plus for him and as
in fight, it only takes one which is a possibility but I got to go with May-
weather.
Here is the 3rd side of the coin. Canelo and Trout “OVER-RESPECTED” each other. The general expectation was that they would go after each other like Rios vs Alvarado, a boxing bout not some boxing gymnastics
It is no secret that many people would love to see King Floyd loose like the way they have done in almost 15 of his last fights….and like always Mayweather will come out tops, He always does, always. Me sees 45 – 0 and 42 – 1 – 1 come sep 15 morning. Feel free to dispute this facts……
Canelo really stand a chance and you cant compare himwith robert guerrero (he’s slower) and in myopinion de la hoya beat mayweather and so does castillo inthefirst fight, maywheater can’t stand pressure
I hope you’re wrong. I think canelo does the same thing mayweather does, which is, just do enough to win the fight. So i get the feeling we will see a totally 100% full throtle Different Canelo.
