With a week to go, Manny Pacquiao and Brandon Rios hosted a media workout and both fighters are looking their best but come November 23, only one will be taking the “W” home.

When the fight was first announced, without hesitation, I bet on Manny Pacquiao to win but now my prediction is up in the air.

Pacquiao, who turns 35-years-old next month, hasn’t won a fight since 2011 and his last win over Juan Manuel Marquez many felt he deserved to lose.

Then we have his controversial loss to Tim Bradley followed by his December 8, 2012, bout where he was brutally knocked out by Marquez in their fourth encounter.

Mix that with the devastating typhoon Haiyan that hit his native Philippines, north of where he’s in training camp, just adds another distraction for the congressman compromising his preparations for the fight. In boxing you have to be one hundred percent committed physically and mentally.

Roach persuaded Pacquiao not to compromise his preparations for the fight although he had granted him some time off to assist remotely.

“While he’s focused on the fight, obviously it’s a distraction because he cares about his people,” Roach told ESPN.

Then we have Brandon Rios, a crazy son of a gun that will stand there and trade with you. Rios has the power to knockout Pacquiao and the heart to die in the ring.

There are many betting websites like BetFair who have Pacquiao as favorite and I don’t blame them at all but this is boxing and anything can happen. Maybe on the weigh in date I will have a clear view of my prediction.

What is your prediction?

  1. The upcoming Pacquiao vs Rios fight should be interesting. With all the antics and hoopla surrounding the pre-fight, its got everyone’s interest’s. But I set on the fence
in this battle, the question has been raised about Manny’s age, and that could be a viable
factor. Age see’s no name is Boxing one day it just hit’s you and your edge is gone. And
then your working off experience and heart. All fighter’s have alot of heart period, but when the clock changes our reflexes, there is no way to get around it. But I still give Pacquiao an edge based on his experience alone.
