Enough is Enough Floyd

So this is how Floyd Mayweather decides to start 2014 off… Putting up a bogus pole on his website and telling his fans that they get to choose his next opponent. Sounds great, except for the fact that they’re told it’s going to be either Marcos Maidana or Amir Khan.

And I thought Mayweather fighting Judah after his loss to Carlos Baldomir and trying to convince the boxing public that Judah was the best fight out there was pushing the BS meter pretty high and yet now he’s trying to convince the boxing world that Maidana and Khan are his two best fights.

Khan has never campaigned at 147 and there no secret his chin is more than suspect. The only way a Khan fight is exciting is if the fight is held it the UK. Simply due to the fact that UK fans seem to have more passion than the US fans these days. Besides, if anything you get to watch Mayweather disrespect Khan and probably most of the UK.

Maidana. Just as Canelo was the biggest fighter coming into 2013, Maidana and his dismantling of Adrien Briner this past December and since then much like Canelo and Matthysse of last year boxing fans seem to be in love with Maidanas power. While his time with Robert Garcia has paid dividens, after you neutralize his power Maidana is a below average boxer.

Verdict. Maidans chances are as good as Khan not getting knocked out by Mayweather.

Truthfully. Who cares who Mayweather fights? Even is a perfect world who other than Pacquiao who would actually be intriguing to fight Mayweather? Does it even matter?Mayweather will continue to feed boxing fans lines of hyperbole, convincing anyone willing to listen that Khan and Maidana are actually dangerous and what’s sad is some people will actually buy it.

Truth is, boxing fans shouldn’t care. There are far better fights out there to be made with fighters that even with May 3rd being occupied by Mayweather, fight fans should look into going to more competitive fights that are actually worth the price of the ticket and not some 1000.00 priced Mayweather fight.

Khan, Maidana or TBA. It really doesn’t matter. I know where I’ll be come May 3rd and that is not in front of T.V.

And then…

So Victor Ortiz lost for the third straight time. That in itself wasn’t too surprising but what was p, was the adoration the Fox crew gave Collazo. Yes, it was a great win for Collazo but to say he is “elite” seems a bit far. It was a good win over a fighter who has not won in almost 2 years. Furthermore, will the win actually be a stepping stone for Collazo? I have a feeling just as Goldenboy thought Collazo would be a good win for Ortiz, Collazo will get put in the mouth of the lion next time out.

  1. This article is bullshit, Khan and Maidana are both more than capable of having a great fight against Floyd or anyone else for that matter, enough of this Bullshit about the only fight worth seeing Floyd in is against Pacquiao.

  2. I agree with your article fully although believe the best fight, from a fans perspective, would be Mayweather vs. Bradley. That fight will prove to be exciting! Bradley can bang, hes athletic, can score, and hes fast. I see him out scoring Manny and hope it’ll happen against Mayweather until then I won’t be paying to watch Ma yweather fight either Khan or Maidana. ..just not interested!

  3. A fight is a fight. There may be a surprise again, who knows? Broner v. Maidana, Collazo v. Ortiz and even Lopez v. Ortiz were fights ending differently from expected.
Khan v Mayweather may turn out as an upset like the previous fights mentioned. Floyd Jr. can hardly knock anyone out lately, probably, even Khan with his suspect chin. Probably, it’s his brittle hands similar to Tommy Hearns of the golden era.

Khan is no tomato can. He loses because he hangs his chin out too much when he throws his punches leaving the right side of his jaw always exposed. Usually, a fighter would go to another level when facing a superior boxer such as Floyd. I surely hope Khan can overcome and humble Floyd, Jr. It is quite irritating to hear him talk like he is the best but wouldn’t take the risk,

  4. i would love to see him fight khan i think it will be interesting to see floyd fight someone who is faster than him hes always fighting guys with power but never someone faster than him look at his last ten fights the only guy with speed was zab judah but he never threw enough punches and yea khan chin is suspect but so is floyd power .. floyd is defense of minded with his head movement but khan is fast enough to tag him he doesnt throw one punch combinations ill be betting on khan for upset win
