Live Boxing in the Inland Empire!

Fight fans in the Inland Empire, get ready to feel the heat as Thompson Boxing Promotions presents “Path to Glory” THIS Friday, June 27. The action will go down at the Doubletree Hotel in Ontario, Calif.

Friday’s fights will offer five bouts of competition including the main event of Artemio “King” Reyes vs. Abraham Alvarez Osuna, the co-main (and rematch) between Giovanni Santillan and Joaquin Chavez, a promising firefight with local pugs Danny Roman vs. Jonathan Arellano, and Erick Ituarte vs. Cesar Valenzuela and Ken Alvarez vs. Joshua Meeks rounding out the card. Ontario will be the epicenter of “shake n’ bake” as the gladiators square off inside the ropes.

Artemio Reyes always brings the fans (they literally arrive in busloads) and his main attraction scrap should have the spectators on their feet once again. Team Reyes makes their presence known with drum beats, noisemakers, tambourines and more. Once you see (and hear his walkout), you won’t forget it. Artemio’s mom Fatima Reyes is the one who spearheads this campaign to make “King” Reyes’ entrance a strong–and memorable–one. Listen and watch this Friday as the lanky welterweight steps into the ring!

These popular Thompson Boxing shows feature rising stars in the ring. Their recent show in May featured a championship triple-header celebrating President/Promoter Ken Thompson and General Manager/Matchmaker Alex Camponovo’s 14th Anniversary showcasing some of the Southland’s brightest new talent and homegrown champs. At their last Doubletree show, the crowd was on their feet as the fisticuffs progressed. With summer officially underway, the prizefighters promise to bring the heat as some blazing action is promised. Thompson’s bouts in May had some blood-and-guts wars with fists flying and blood flowing and this June show should induce the same intensity between the fighters.

A local hero IFBA Light Flyweight champ Sindy “La Alacrana” Amador won her bout in a split decision victory over challenger Maria Suarez. The petite firecracker trains out of the Capital Punishment Boxing Club with Ruben Castanon and Charlie Perez. Amador had a big cheering section rooting for their favorite champion.

Also at the last show were former champ and current IFBA Supervisor Kim Messer-Caminshi, WBC Supervisor Rudy Tellez, pro fighters Israel Vazquez, Aron Martinez, Richard Contreras, Lissette Medel, future California Boxing Hall of Fame 2014 Inductee Jack Reiss (boxing official), and many more.

There was also one very special guest sitting ringside. HBO’s Harold Lederman was in town for the Juan Manuel Marquez-Mike Alvarado fight and was happy to be able to come out to the Ontario show the night before. New York’s Lederman and Ken Thompson go way back from the World Boxing Hall of Fame heyday.

And during the May 16 show, fans in attendance were greeted by the lovely Thompson ring card girls. A smiling Christy greeted guests with a smile and a commemorative poster celebrating Thompson Boxing Promotions’ 14th Anniversary. With T-shirt and hat giveaways, celebrities in attendance and back-and-forth brawls center ring, SoCal boxing fans always get their money’s worth.

Harold Lederman, HBO’s “unofficial” ringside scorer and popular boxing personality sums it up best.

“There is nothing in the world more entertaining than a Ken Thompson show at the Doubletree,” Lederman announced via social media.
